Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
Hmm... catchy, yes. but does it have soul? ..yeah...I thought so.. it's just pure image by an artist who's also about image on MTV nowadays.

clearly, you're limited to the mainstream thrash hooked on your 2-way speaker...

50 Cent – Candy Shop Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with bigsp1313. Although I'm not really into the whole 'hype' about Hip-hop/Rap, there are indeed intellectual Urban music out there. It's a really sad thing that most of us out there are only being exposed to these bullshit thrash like this. The Roots are definitely one exceptional Urban artists. So are: Madlib, Jurassic 5, Mos Def, Prefuse 73, K-OS, Cypress Hill, and Gym Class Heroes.

I think the same thing can be said with the Rock genre, which I'm more inclined to listen to ever since I was 10. Not every band out there is generally good in writing lyrical paradigms.

Rurouni Kenshin – Innocence Lyrics 19 years ago
Here is the song's English translation:
------------------------------------------

Hey, watch out
Touch me and you'll get cut
You're not yet
Stronger than me
You probably know

*The blue flame
Now silently burns inside the ice
Ah.. A smile resurfaces
I can see from afar
One boy

The winds, painful rain, shouts, severed thread, winter skies
Why am I laughing?
I don't know
I'm just lost

*The blue flame
Now silently burns inside the ice
Ah.. Cause' only one
Answer
Do I know

Be careful
Cause' you are weak
Soon I
Shall wipe you out certainly

Ah.. The blue flame
Shall now silently burn inside

Metric – London Halflife Lyrics 19 years ago
Definitely beautiful. It's just the melody of a solo piano, and along with is the accompaniment Emily's peerless tonal. This is song is completely different from most of Metric's usual sound. I

Why don't they ever play this song in their live shows? All Metric's been playing are stuff from their, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? and Live It Out. They never play the ones people's never heard of before back when they weren't mainstream. =(

Yoko Kanno – Blue Lyrics 19 years ago
I think of this song in a 1st-Person perspective with the possibility of being in a subconscious state ("Don't wake me from the dream. It's really everything it seemed), about freedom or balance ("I'm so free. No black and white in the blue").

It's just the right song with the right lyrics for the final eps. of Cowboy Bebop, with Spike (ironically) meeting his fate and all... It's one of those songs that limns a psychological thought to people when they listen to it. ^^

Yoko Kanno – Adieu Lyrics 19 years ago
Indeed. Its one of those songs that quickly catches my ears; very simplistic in sound and nostalgic in words. ^^ This is one of the songs I listen to whenever my memories of the people I lost evokes within me.

Tenacious D – Wonderboy Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't think anyone needs to decipher the meaning behind this song lol!

But daaamn, it rocks my sox haha! How many songs are there that intermixes narration with vox? Not many! I think this is what makes this song unique. And Tenacious D can rock alright. They can put on a show and rock the fuckin' house down y'all XP

my personal interpretation of this song:

..ah fuck, the lyrics are very straight-forward and in yah face yo! if you cannot tell what this song means, you must still be in kindergarten or 2nd grade haha.

ok really, i think this song is just like any other mainstream urban on mtv or the local station - hip-hop doesn't look good w/o the usual ingredients of: pimpin' hoes, fast cars, bling-blingz (yo!), and fat booties constantly shakin'! lol!

Bloc Party – Tulips Lyrics 19 years ago
The way I view this song, is that the girl/woman is in her moment of need ("When I caught you there, Crying in the night"), and someone needs to console her from whatever ordeal ("Did it catch you out? Or did it break you in, Right from the start") she's recently been putting up with.

Treble Charger – Don't Believe It All Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is a song that talks about someone who can't give you a reason or an explanation on how/where did things go wrong.

Treble Charger – Even Grable Lyrics 19 years ago
Agreed. Before there was, American Psycho, Brand New Low, or, Red, there was, Even Grable. =) Greig's falsetto is refreshing here considering they were all so young when, self=title, was released in '95.

I also interpret this song other than a means of relationship (between a male & female), but also as a means of friendship that has dissolved, or, when you've lost (could be death or moved away) someone that has a great influence in your (daily) life, and you find yourself empty and unsure how to move on; my reference for this interpretation is the chorus: "What's there to say,
Your reason's sound,
That I'd live for,
You're gone away,
Not meant to stay, away"

Maaya Sakamoto – Vector (Vision of Escaflowne) Lyrics 19 years ago
I haven't listened to a J-musician in quite a while. This is the song (apart from the many (English language) Indie sounds) on my playlist that I've been listening to. And I have a reason for doing so.

I think this song is about someone who can't help but dwell on a failed relationship (the opening verse cleary implies that) and couldn't move on. The rest of the lyrics are pretty much straight-forward and clear for a simple interpretation. Its otherwise a serene song that isn't emotive, in my opinion.

Metric – Soft Rock Star Lyrics 21 years ago
in what lines? this: "school yard junior high style bullies have always tried to buy the better girls"? i've seen other ver. that goes: "the recess boys...etc" but i think those are the wrong words for it. it doesn't sound like emily is saying "recess boys".

anywho, i'd like to hear what your own opinion defines the concept of this song.
