| The Verve Pipe – La La Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Where in the hell did that shit from Kat come from? Wow. Anyhow. Good song. Definitely to do with an ex, but when I try to pin down any specific meaning, it just seems all jumbled and complex. But, I suppose that's just the nature of the song's reflection on this relationship: a mash of roles, expectations, heartbreak, and all that other good stuff. |

| William Shatner – You'll Have Time Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Weird as hell. I don't know whether I even like it or not. Shatner's voice is so odd, it's hard to get used to it. Anyway, interesting if nothing else. Meaning is sort of obvious, since it's repeated about 70 times. | |
| William Shatner – I Can't Get Behind That Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Yes yes, the ridiculous bullshit of the world and all that jazz. But isn't that drumming frggin' awesome? |
| The Watchmen – Wiser Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The ravages of time, and realizing about all that glorious "wisdom" we all get from it. When we realize that we didn't know a damn thing we were talking about when we were younger. Bitchin' song, though. |

| Wintersleep – Assembly Lines Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree. He's caught up in the machine-like bullshit of working too much. At times I'm either discouraged or inspired by the "I'll try harder.." lines. As if sometimes it's him trying to be strong, and other times just it's him mumbling and realizing the futility of it all, hence all the repetition. Of course, there really -is- no bright side to this one. Still, it's good stuff. |

| Carbon Leaf – One Prairie Outpost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What a nice, bittersweet song. I think it's him reflecting on his life, the travelling lifestyle. He seems to enjoy the rush, but also miss the tranquility of normal life. Tranquility that never tends to exist in real life anyway, but hey. |
| The Watchmen – Calm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Pretty obvious meaning. A guy thinking that if they can re-establish themselves physically, that will put aside all her pains. But, the "demand" part poses some rather serious questions of abuse, but I'm not definitively convinced of such. In either case, a fantastic song. |
| The Watchmen – Laugher Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Laughing as a coping mechanism? It's a tough one. Pretty good song though. | |
| Deftones – Hole in the Earth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Konami Code, man. That shit's classic. The song does appear to be about the struggle of a band falling apart. The production is fantastic, it's disturbingly...soothing, almost. |

| Matthew Good Band – Apparitions Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Milarepa, that was a very clear and insightful comment. However, don't be such a pretentious dick about it. It isn't likely the song was even planned as to have such meaning, with it more hinging on the unconcious trends, which often happen to follow basic truths. Because for all the hocus-pocus of spirituality you ascribe to it, you can just as easily view it as a struggle to affirm one's identity, and the identities of those around, within the chaoctic and skewed view of the world that people and the media portray. Again, good insight. But come on. |

Misguided affection? Obsession? A past relationship? I don't know, but hot damn if that isn't some catchy stuff. |
| Modest Mouse – Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's mind-boggling just how much I like the instrumental ending. It seems happy, dismal, hopeful and hopeless all at once. Plus it's just bitching to ride a bike during. The rest of the song is good too, no doubt, but I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the ending packs more of a whallop. | |

| The Decemberists – The Crane Wife 3 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is just lovely. It's about as remorseful as you can get, but at the end it almost sounds...determined, if that makes any sense. Probably because it's based off of a fable, it feels like the morality of it all is puncuated, and that the narrator himself is forcing himself to fully confront the wrongness of his actions. Or, it's just telling the end of the story. Beautiful song. |

| The Decemberists – Sons and Daughters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't think this song has any real meaning other than trying to capture the optimism of starting a new life. Things will be better, and we'll make things work. That's how it sounds to me, anyway. And knowing the band, it's probably got references to specific pieces of history that I'd have no clue about. |
| Modest Mouse – Polar Opposites Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"And I know I should go but I'll probably stay And that's all you can do about some things" Self-explanatory, I realize, but that line's always stuck out to me. It's so casual, just like the "choice" made to take the easy route, such as resorting to alcoholism. Nothing gets better, but the narrator isn't quite ready to fight to really improve things yet. Or something. |

| The Watchmen – Middle East Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Love that middle-eastern drum that accompanies the first half of the song. And yeah, the rockin' out at the end is awesome. "In walking comes a smile, I didn't know the day She sits downside me, perfectly arranged " Those lines, too, are great. Probably my favourite song by The Watchmen (and it bugs me that hardly anyone knows them...bah). |
| Soundgarden – Superunknown Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"If this isn't making sense It doesn't make it lies " Brilliant. I'd think this song is about taking control in general. |
| Soundgarden – Big Dumb Sex Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| My favourite song from Louder Than Love. Indeed, catchy as all hell. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – We're in This Together Lyrics | 21 years ago |
My best friend and I, we both have diseases and other problems and...welll this song is sorta the music behind and a part of our situation. "All that we were is gone, we have to hold on." Absolutely love the song. And I don't care to hear any official meaning of it. Sometimes a song is just "yours". |
