I'm sorry, but to take this song seriously is ridiculous. 'I wear black on the outside 'cause black is how I feel on the inside'??? It's hilarious! Pure irony, cynicism and pessimism in their finest forms. If you don't get The Smiths you never will, they're not something you can try and understand - they're a mindset, a way of thinking. Look at the lyrics! If you think that this song is an honest depiction of depression you clearly have not suffered from it. Most likely, Morrissey is taking the piss out of the people who DO think that this is an honest depiction of depression. |
