Back with September 11..it conjurs up some interesting coincidence imagery.... ...but if he tries to rule the sky. He must fall. (WTC) ....the humdrum of the city grows...we must try to shake it down. Do our best to break the ground. Try to turn the world around-one more time...(first attempt not so good) Other lines could be read into as well. By no means do i think Cat Stevens promotes anything voilent, but the coincidences with the events are odd. |

Suzanne--though a real person is merely the buffers or bookends to the important stanza. The one that centers around Jesus. The concise proclamation in this stanza outlines the songs soul--one surrounded by temptations physical, but strongly bound in the mind...mentally inticed by the intimacy of a devilish innocent flower. Judy Collins version is the perfect haunting version of this song...though not written by Judy...poetic perfect meets the grace of her angelic voice (the perfect third person narration)-a warning for the world. The devil doesn't reside in all women or men, but is most often cloaked in their beauty--one that's not fully revealed...one to draw in the deeper (hidden) portions of oneself only to destroy you from the inside out. |
