Mike And The Mechanics – The Living Years Lyrics

Worlebird, you are right on track. I'm sure many people can relate to this song. I am 42 years young and my father was never really close to me , but we never argued nor did we ever really have differences. He was a good, hard working man who loved his children but for some reason I just never became close with him, perhaps because when I was young (20) I moved out west and started a family. We would correspond via phone and he became a very loving grandparent to my children. He wasn't much of a talker, but I always fet he truly respected me for who I was and I knew he was extremely proud of me. While I was away starting my family, my two brothers became very close to my father. I always resented them for that because for some ridiculous reason I always felt that they were becoming closer and tighter with our father and since I was away raising a family of my own, I just felt left out, like I was missing out on something. Anyway, to make a long story short, my dad passed away suddenly, when I was 30 years old, he was only 54. This song sums up everything I feel about my relationship with my Dad. |

Hmmmm, the words seem to suggest she is singing about Hollywood....stage, actors, make-up, thrill seekers, vendors, dealers, wealth, diamonds, red carpet. Just a thought, I'm probably dead wrong. |

Billy Joel – My Life Lyrics

This may sound crazy, but I always thought that the line "now he gives them the stand up routine in LA" may have been a reference to Jerry Seinfeld. In 1978 Jerry Seinfeld was just starting to become a comic and the fact they they both grew up on Long island is interesting. Then in 2000 Jerry bought Billy's house in the Hamptons. Have no hard proof of this, but it is interesting. |

Del Amitri – Always The Last To Know Lyrics
| 19 years ago

This song is like a movie that throws you for a loop at the end, ala The Sixth Sense. You feel sorry for the writer throughout the whole song because he leads the listener to believe that that he was always the last to know about certain things in their relationship and that the writer/singer ended the relationship because he was always "the last to know" what was happening. But then the kicker at the end reveals that he was cheating on her and that she most likely ended the realationship. |

According to a Bobby Lamm interview, the song is about the process of writing a song, and how in that process he looked up and glanced at the clock. |

For some reason I always thought that the Eagles coined the phrase "take it easy". Any takers on that? |

The Doors – Stoned Immaculate Lyrics

Well, not sure about the meaning of the entire song. But the first line of the song has been my personal credo for some time: "No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn". This can be interpreted on my many levels, large and small. But in my small world I use it to motivate myself to take advantage of every day of my life, to tackle life's challenges, to be grateful and appreciative, because somewhere, someone has it tougher than me. Simply put, you will reap no benefits or rewards in life if you sit on your ass all day whining and complaining and feeling sorry for yourself. Basically, the sun will rise each morning and if you waste the opportunity to at least try and make something of with your life.....you will not be rewarded with whatever you feel you may deserve. |

Hmmm, since Kerry Livgren was a deeply religous man, I althoughs felt that many of his songs were about Jesus. This one, as well as Nobody's Home. |
