It starts off he's just turned 21 or 18 (whatever country he comes from) and he's allowed to go to a night club-a burlesque queen may even ask his name (someone who gives a show characterized by broad ribald comedy, dancing, and striptease) As someone is stripping for him a strip joint verteran sweeps 'you' away- (someone who regurally attends the nightclub) Smirking between dignified sips of...-either himself or the veteran are smirking. now either he's imagining this and thinking thats exactly where 'you' expect him to be or he could actually be there- the line 'lying is TMFAGCHWTHCO' is obviously borrowed from 'Closer'- a good movie may i add- in this movie this desperate guy who is longing for this stripper girl actually goes to this strip joint looking for her. She (N. Portman) is pretending she isn't the girl he's looking for, she's toying with him- he asks why she's lying and she replies "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off...but its better if you do". There's two guys in it- a blonde and a burnette- the blond goes physco and ends up slapping her, and the brunette is the one who seeks her at the strip joint- the stripper girl is being a fool with the idea of being with either of them, but she's also a whore- she toys with them a lot and cheats on one with the other....etc its an idea that P!ATD possibly had a similar personal experience as to what happened in the movie. I guess you should all watch the movie and maybe it'll give you some ideas to what all the lyrics mean. |

so true (My Intoxication) answers.com says that Harlequin is A conventional buffoon of the commedia dell'arte, traditionally presented in a mask and parti-colored tights. and also A clown; a buffoon. so theyre saying that there's this sex driven guys and there is these girls acting as buffoons probably because they are blind to the fact that these guys are only going for sex, which is understandable.... i think the "stomach acid finds a new way to make you get sick" bit means he feels sick to his stomach by whats going on- he's probably pissed at this guy and how he's treating this girl, and also- the lyrics seem a bit cruelly sarcastic because he's just angry at it but its also got this sexual side to it which is ALL driven by hormones. i love the song- because its cruel but sexual. |

Yeah i agree with cpj1607 Its a album you just wanna chill to. I love this song- its one of my favourite songs. The song is really...moving, you can just get lost in it. Its like he's addicted to someone but he's taking it really slowly and the person is just breaking him down. And he loves them. |

I'm doing an assignment based on this song. I've been doing a bit of researched and that out the above. I really don't think it's right for some of you to bitch and joke about this song when it's based on such a serious and deep topic and especcially when its helped so many through hard times. Please try be a little more serious and mature about such a tragic topic. I love this song and Blink 182. |

The band wrote this after one of their fans emailed them a copy of a suicide note a teenager had written to his parents before killing himself. They were also a little depressed about being away on tour. The end of the song is a message that things will get better. Guitarist Tom Delonge: "The story behind that is Mark read a letter someone sent him as an email, that a kid wrote before he committed suicide to his parents. We kind of got together and wrote this sad, slow song. It came out sadder than we ever thought it would, which is good too. Any song that moves you is good. Some people listen to it and go 'Wow, that's a real bum-out of a song.' But it's one of those things, a story of a kid not being happy in his life, crossed with us being really lonely on tour.
