| Circle Takes the Square – Enter By The Narrow Gates Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." - Matthew 7:13-14 | |
| Land of Talk – Some Are Lakes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I'm not sure of the significance, if there is any, with relation to these lyrics but the goddess Hera was referred to as "the cow-eyed." I always think about that when I hear the bovine eyes lyrics. | |
| Pianos Become The Teeth – I'll Get By Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| My grandfather is in hospice right now and I'm just listening to this over and over and crying my eyes out. | |
| Teen Suicide – The Same Things Happening to Me All the Time, Even in My Dreams Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
from their bandcamp: i have dreamt about what it's like to die and i saw myself becoming shadows again just like i did when i was a kid i saw my bones crack open and all the things i've been hiding from you spill out all the secrets that i never thought i'd tell anyone about i am warm and i am bored and i am drifting through this place it's no better or worse than anything else that's ever happened to me but i wish that i'd never met a lot of the people that i've met not because i don't like them but because i only let them down and when you disappoint everyone all the time it's hard not to want to die constantly i feel this weird and shameful feeling like im being watched by a thousand glowing, vengeful eyes behind one way mirrors in public bathrooms and in metro cars and everywhere i go i know i'm not welcome |

| holy fuck and I thought Bloodhail almost broke my heart. | |
| The National – Mistaken for Strangers Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The "showered and blue-blazered" line is from the novel The Extra Man by Jonathan Ames. I think Technophobia really nailed the meaning of the song back in 2007, because that's kind of what the book is about. In one section the character that is "showered and blue-blazered" spends a lot of time in peep-show theaters in Times Square, putting quarters into the slot to look at the girls behind the glass. | |
| Snowing – Could Be Better Forever Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Honestly it doesn't get any fucking better than this. This is wrong writing at its most genuine. | |

| It's about sleep paralysis. | |
| Elliott Smith – Somebody That I Used to Know Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song kills me because to a lot of people I'm just somebody that they used to know. | |
| Land of Talk – Death by Fire Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| the chord progression in this song reminds me of a Jets to Brazil track. | |
| Beach House – Gila Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it's about a bitter relationship/divorce and the lines at the end seem to suggest that there's a child (Hoping for the last ship to arrive/I’ve been blessed with a kingdom, half-mine). Gila being a name for joy, this makes sense to me. |

| Broken Social Scene – Shampoo Suicide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I just saw them play this live a few days ago and the end of the song they definitely sing "you know we did the best we could" | |
| Circle Takes the Square – Kill the Switch Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
One day when I have the time I am going to sit down and write out a very long explanation about what I think this song/album is about. However, I don't have the time at the moment so I am going to give everyone out there who sees this a suggestion: Read Lautreamont and Borges. Their work as such striking similarities to that of CTTS that there is no way it's a coincidence. |

| I Hate Myself – Not Waving But Drowning Lyrics | 18 years ago |

they took this from the poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge "Water, water, every where, And all the boards did shrink ; Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink." |

| of Montreal – Gronlandic Edit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
to be honest this song just reminds me of drugs: "(The surrealists were just) Nihilists with good imaginations" many experiences with drugs are reminiscent of surrealist works. "I am satisfied Hiding in our friend's apartment Only leaving once a day To buy some groceries Daylight, I'm so absent minded Nighttime meeting new anxieties So am I erasing myself? Hope I'm not erasing myself" this just sounds like drug induced paranoia "I guess it would be nice to give my heart to a god But which one, which one do I choose? All the churches fill with losers, psycho or confused I just want to hold the divine in mind And forget all of the beauty's wasted" talking to god isn't that uncommon on drugs, he's taking them to get that illusive experience of divine beauty that is so hard to come by in our mundane world. "Let's fall back to earth and do something pleasant We fell back to earth like gravity's bitches (Physics makes us all its bitches)" coming down "I guess it would be nice Show me that things can be nice I guess it would be nice Show me that things can be nice You've got my back in the city You've got my back, 'cause I don't want to panic You've got my back in the city You've got my back, 'cause I don't want to panic" coming down some more, his friend is babysitting his trip and calming him down, he doesn't want to leave his nice and cozy drug induced world |

| Orchid – And The Cat Turned To Smoke Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I might be crazy, but ever since I first heard that song it's sounded like the last thing he screams is, "It's all my fault, it's all my fault." /shrug |

| Circle Takes the Square – Interview At The Ruins Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
-so how did it end? can you describe those final days? broken windows, and resting eyes. -can you tell us what happened here? they finally got sick of it all, they just gave up on accepting fate. that was the loophole, they found the achilles heel and managed to strike it down. at the feet of the ruins is a dormant structure. dormant but breathing, still breathing. the wind sweeps through its hallways, echoing at the establishment of their caretakers. an exhaltation of cold premonition. -can you describe what took place? the shock, sounds from a hollow box. a corner to dive in. i touched their misery, he just went to sleep. an exhalation of cold breath. -the kind of breath you could see? the shock, the terror. behold the riddle of the ruins. when a door is not a door. behold the riddle of the ruins, adore. -describe the feeling when you knew it all would end. in those final days. he gave up. behold a branch will continue to grow -how did it all end that night? last night ,did they? fear, and a touch of their misery -and he just stopped breathing? it was a single lesson, he just layed down, sounds from a hollow box just went to sleep. dormant, dormant but still breathing. took a final breath. he just went to sleep and just stopped breathing. a single lesson will be taught we will all be taught. behold the final breath. when they knew it all would end. still breathing and he just stopped. stopped breathing. we will all be taught, taught how to swallow bark. |
