Stockholm Syndrome factually refers to a bunch of hostages in history forming an emotional bond with their kidnappers. But Muse has used it to refer to a relationship so that the Stockholm Syndrome is a feeling love or admiration for a person hurting you. This person is in a relationship where they are in love but are being treated like crap. "And she’ll scream And she’ll shout And she’ll pray" He's telling himself he's gonna get out "This is the last time I’ll abandon you And this is... the last time I’ll forget you" but in the end there's something that keeps drawing him back "I wish I could". Everyone can relate to this. Not just couples but in friendships to. I'm sure everyone has had a friend treat you like crap but you still find yourse;f there for them. |

I thought it was about a TV personality that he's never met but knows everything about. THe line where he says "Coming home late at night to turn you on Checking out every frame I got slow motion on my side" makes me think of DVDs and stuff. Then "Catching your bright blue eyes in the freeze frame I've seen them so many times I feel like I must be your best friend" YOu know how it is when you've watched a show/actor so many times you feel like you know them? Thats what I think anyway. |

rednight1972 and oracle_angel's analagy is quite good but after looking at the lyrics again the opinion on Bono looking for "something" in general, can't be right. This is this line that contradicts... "I have climbed the highest mountains I have run through the fields Only to be with you" YOU is a person not SOMETHING so It must be God/Jesus he is talking about. |
