Regret, and how most diffrences between people (in this song its obviously his father) tend to be petty "just like the sunny days that/we ignore because/we're all dumb & jaded" and how we ignore the "sunny days", or the good times, and instead focus on the bad things...and that it sometimes takes something far more grandeur (in this case, death and our own mortality) to realize that life is way to short to hold grudges and anger for something that in the end means nothing.

This song is definitely about his wife, and as far as i know it was a wedding present. Keeping in mind that Robert is on the road alot and wanted to express how he feels for her when theyre together, and when hes on the road, or when they get into a fight, or even if they eventually seperate that he will always love her.

ITs has nothing to do with a "drowning", but about his wife, and what he went through during some troubled times between them...a break-up to be exact. The album in which this song appeared in was "Disintegration", and the overall feel of that album was certainly dark, and depressed due to this fact. However, this break up was not what Robert wanted, and at the time of the breakup he reflects on the relationship, and the feeling they both had through it "Remembering You fallen into my arms/Crying for the death of your heart"..this is her losing love for him, and him trying to grasp at how he could have avoided the breakup..my guess is that him being part of a band, and being on the road alot lead to some sort of negligence on his part..."If only I'd thought of the right words/I could have held on to your heart/If only I'd thought of the right words/I wouldn't be breaking apart/All my pictures of you"..this is also reflected in "Love Song" which is on the same album. "There was nothing in the world/That I ever wanted more/Than to feel you deep in my heart/There was nothing in the world/That I ever wanted more/Than to never feel the breaking apart/All my pictures of you"..obviously more "post breakup" feelings of wanting the old flame back.

^^^I dont think its necessarily where "he" lives, but just individuals that perhaps get stuck in these "seaside towns" where rarely anything interesting happens. This can lead to depression where "everyday is like sunday/everyday is silent and grey"..and of course the "come armageddon" lyrics speaks for itself.

Morrissey has long expressed that hes is/was a very shy individual, and in very basic terms how shyness can impede someone going after someone due to their shyness. Instead these people go after people who may not besuited for them "Spending warm, Summer days indoors/Writing frightening verse to a buck-toothed girl in Luxemburg" ...but i think it also has deeper meaning in how we all relate to each other in general, and how we all have SOME sort of shyness at some level "if its not love/then its the bomb that will bring us together"

In an ainterview once, Morrissey admitted to his homosexuality, but at the same time expressed distaste for his own feelings of homosexuality, therefore tried to adopt a celibate lifestyle..(which incidentally did not last). With this sort of thinking and lifestyle, life can become very lonely and isolating. Perhaps this is a small reflection on this, and equally so a reflection of how some of us look for love constantly but are frustrated when none is found..especially when that person is shy and reserved "I am the son/I am the heir/to a shyness that is criminally vulgar" "When you say its gonna happen now/Well when exactly do you mean?/See ive already waited too long/And all my hope is gone" Trying to find love in a world not necessarily interested in love.
