| Nelly Furtado – Picture Perfect Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Just a lovely song, that makes me lament the direction Nelly's taken recently. When a person has to veer from making records like this to shallow "tunes" like "Maneater" and "Promiscuous"...it's a damn shame. Love the lyrics: "So you made an oil painting to inmortalize All of the hope and vision in your eyes." Just suggests that even this amazing guy she wants to run away with still has his insecurities. And, of course, I adore the little guitar solo after the first chorus...sublime stuff. |

| Stephen Lynch – Vanilla Ice Cream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Easily the greatest chorus in Stephen's discography and probably one of my favourite tracks by him, both musically and lyrically. Wonderful song. | |
| Supergrass – Late In The Day Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I always thought this was a song of regret...with the writer reminiscing about the times they had with an old flame and seeing them in a beautiful light, yet at the time they didn't think much of them (All the time I thought of you, in an ordinary way) I love this song personally, great vocals, the meaty guitar solo about 3 minutes in always makes me smile, easily one of the highlights of the greatest hits alb. |

| Maxïmo Park – Limassol Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The song which has single-handedly improved Cyprus's tourist industry by 300%...LIMASSOL!!! Class song, for some reason I love the buzzing intro, just a energetic quirky song to bop to...Geordie-land's churning 'em out at the moment, aren't they? |

| The Futureheads – Area Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Wow...that's a bit heavy lukefun...don't really agree with the "rape" comments but i'd say it's definitely having a go at the "rougher" urban areas and the necessary actions that people have to make to feel secure in their own homes because of the "constant threat" of yob culture. Or summat like that :p Fuckin' beauty of a song tho! Can't wait for their second alb. |

| Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Beautiful song from an amazing artist...just makes me think about the records he may have had in him if he'd still lived. Personal highlight is his voice when he sings: "But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye" Just that emotion that's smothered all over the vocals...great stuff |

| Maxïmo Park – Postcard of a Painting Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"and closed the postcard on a guillotine"...wtf? In what way does that line sound like this? It's "and closed the postcard of a painting", you know, like the song's title? |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I don't know what it is about this song, but even though the subject matter is so demoralising, there's something about this song that lifts the spirit. I can't understand it but it just does... Anthony, John, Flea and Chad really did something special with this song, great guitar from the legendary John that will live on for a long time. Stonking bass from Flea, solid drumming from Chad, heartfelt vocals from Anthiny, this song should be remembered as their high point...even if it is describing Anthony's lowest. Simply suerb song, even better live...almost brought a tear to my eye. |

| Thirteen Senses – History Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Hmmm...first person to comment on this song...okay, better make it good. I fucking love this song! It's so quiet yet there's a power behind it that brings me into the song. Although, that album can be bland at times, songs like this bring it to life. To be perfectly honest, I can't think of a meaning for this song. It's just a beautiful little track...with the great lines "You Wake Up, Set Your Distances Miles Away" - great vocals. |

| The Zutons – Dirty Dancehall Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Why no-one's commented on this I'll never know!! What a tune!! I love the upbeat melodic stuff like Remember Me, but their moody stuff (Havana Gang Brawl, Long Time Coming and this) are just superb. This one being my favourite. The chorus is soooo ace...and David McCabe's voice suits this so well. Can't wait for the second alb. "Down in the alley a tramp falls asleep Murdering the hooker and chops off their feet" Zutons = imaginative feckers! |

| Athlete – Wires Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Heard this first in the background on Match Of The Day...a wierd forum for new music, but hey, they've just started playing thirteen senses - thru the fire and that's a tune and a half too. What a song this is!! El Salvador and Westside kinda got me interested in Athlete but I never bought Vehicles And Animals. Well, I'm buying it now, and I'm defo buying Tourist. I agree with you guys about the whole baby theme. This song perfectly reflects on his urgency to get to the operating theatre and, IMO, reflects on his anxiety that he has to be there to protect the baby. "got to get to you " shows his panic |

Always my man-All in a hand This line, for some reason, made me think that this song was about masturbation but after reading the comments on here, I'm starting to think I may have got the wrong end of the stick!! Epic song though, refreshingly serious, considering it's rhcp. "A butterfly that flaps its wings Affecting almost everything " Best...bit...of...vocals...in...this...song!! IT JUST GOES SO WELL WITH THE BACKING!! |

| Coldplay – One I Love Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Put yourself on the band And see us forever This bit's wrong, I'm afraid. It's: "Put yourself on my back, And say it's forever." Sure there are things in the band? Keep us together should be: "Shoulders, knees and your back are What keeps me together" It'll soon be forever I think, this should be "Tell me forever" but I'm not sure. The other two I'm positive about. I really like this song. Although Coldplay are defo at their best when they're in amelancholy mood, their uptempo efforts are always damn good (God Put A smile Upon Your Face :) ) The uptempo nature of this song goes well with the subject: the realisation that you've found the love of your life and your starting to get ready for the trails ahead. Least that's wot I get from it... |

| Kasabian – Cutt Off Lyrics | 21 years ago |

And if you smell those almonds man, I think you better run. I don't think John's the only one on LSD... This is a good song..Doesn't compare with Club Foot and Reason Is Treason but hey, what u gonna do? I agree with princessskate...defo a song bout getting high. But it's also about being so stoned that you start to believe the crazy stuff that you think about under influence. It's just this time, John decided to take these actions seriously....TOO seriously!! |

| Coldplay – Don't Panic Lyrics | 21 years ago |

An amazing start to the Parachutes album, so quick yet so sharp. Beautiful pieces of guitar from Chris and Jonny with soaring vocals. Fantastic Just heard this from their Sydney Live DVD and it's one of the best tracks on it. Great performance from a band on form and i can't wait for their third alb. |
