Nine Inch Nails – Closer Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is truth. Its what every musician wants to say but never had the guts too. Its simple, vulgar and straight foreward. Truth.

Madrugada – Norwegian Hammerworks Corp. Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is about routine. Its about the mechanical facade that our world has become. Thus the mechanical description of the "the way the hammer moves" .It reflects the routine that our daily life at work has become, which is backed by the industrial innuendos, as well as the very mechanical and repetitive guitar & Bass riff (which is brilliant by the way). The song addresses how individuality is regarded as a "mental illness" that needs to be cured by a doctor.
"Computer, cigarettes, photograph, pens and pencils", the values of this industrially planned life.
In my eyes the middle of the song, where the music breaks away represents the dilemma of this planned life. As a matter of fact the "nail", which is the symbol for the precision of our life, is "bent and broken", and only love can straighten out our screwed up life. The fact that the song ends the way it started underlines to me the fact that not enough people in society realize the routine their life has become, and giving in to it. Therefore even though there is a solution, things are not changing.
