| The Walkmen – We Can't Be Beat Lyrics | 13 years ago |

So...We Can't Be Beat. A well titled song with a catchy tune and a reality more true than even the lyrics can describe. The Walkmen always seem to put together a catchy tune with the right amount of lyrics. I feel as though the lyrics are rather self-explanitory but its worth adding a few words in here to say, yep, you can't be beat... at least not with a song like this. Can't wait for the full release of Heaven and what it offers as full compilation. I guess i have to add. I have to believe this a serenade for a great love, the type we all dream about, where nothing else matters but the trust and partnership of that love. |

| i need to note that thing that makes this song so beautiful in my eyes is the clear imagery one gets from listening to this song... the pictures from your own memory i think take shape when you hear this song and then they just build into this tapestry of memories that is tattered old yet somehow beautiful...( i also love the image from that first part with god smoking his last cigarette is just awesome) | |
| Peter Broderick – With The Notes In My Ears Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i have to note that this song is beautifully and exqusitely simple... the words i think are evident in equating notes to people just as we associate songs with individuals and memories... music is a part of our soul and peter broderick in this song captures that perfectly... talking more generally it could be seen that the song talks about the people and their memories to us as individuals and their effects on our beings long after they are gone... the first comment to a beautiful song with many more meanings i am sure | |

| The Killers – A Dustland Fairytale Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| beautiful... sometimes music has this way of touching not just your mind but your heart and soul... flowers' has this gift... call it divine inspiration or the amazing strength of human talent call it what you want but agree that it hasn't been in the music industry for some time... this entire album touches on this notion but this song about his own personal struggle to hold on to his mom and dad and help his mother hold on herself speaks volumes not just about the music but also of who he is as a person... strength doesn't always come from the depths but sometimes the words we say and the knowledge that someone will always care about you... our struggle with relationships whether it be with parents or the ones we love is a fight that we battle every day and a struggle that leads to growth... we make the ones we love into something beyond human at times because of the comfort and strength they give us... "cinderella" as seen in the song speaks volumes to this idea ... beautiful, kind, humble, etc. all the qualities of a amazing mother, and its beyond all this that flowers' takes this song as he tries to hold on for his mom in an hour when maybe she needs someone to hold on for her... | |

I took my love down to Violet Hill There we sat in snow All that time she was silent still- wow the most obvious line and i left it out... "she was silent still" --- mother earth is no longer speaking... the earth is dead perhaps... i don't know perhaps... let me know what you guys think |

| con't... a reference to our own death... yet at the same time it shows how this is a person looking at the creation of absolute destruction and remember he beginning of the end.... pretty well written... its gorgeous... its a pretty emotional song... typical coldplay...i love it... god bless be safe... and i hope to hear what everyone thinks of my interpretation... | |

to be perfectly honest i believe that this song is very directly tied to what the band sees as the injustices that exist throughout the world and the song itself is being sung from almost the perspective of the earth looking down on what we as humans have created... examples: "When the future's architectured By a carnival of idiots on show" - a reference perhaps to our reliance on the media to provide truth when in reality it dictates our actions to act out of fear... "When the banks became cathedrals"- pretty obviously we have come to worship money "And the fog Became God"- fog is something we are trying to always look past.. not something we look at... perhaps an inference that we are not looking at god anymore but rather trying to see past "Priests clutched onto bibles Hollowed out to fit their rifles And the cross was held aloft Bury me in honor When I’m dead and hit the ground My Love is opposed when unfold"-i believe another reference to how we should be looking deeper into everything around us... the bible/rifiles line is a direct shot at how ALL people are using religious views for moral justification for war while the "love" which religions truly propose is a love of all people regardless of their religion... i believe he is say bury me with the ideals of love despite that fact that in death people may alter what we may have stood for while we lived "If you love me Why'd you let me go?"- the world speaking to us as humans... asking us what are we doing by our actions if we allowing for issues such as absolute poverty, climate change, religious persecution to exist... man made problems the "earth" speaking in this circumstance and is questioning us on how we could allow for this to go on... "I don't want to be a soldier With the captain of some sinking ship With snow, far below"- soldiers are often associated with being the first and last line of defense... in this circumstance it is a reference to the fact that he doesn't want to be one of the last people watching the destruction of the world and the snow... i believe is not actual snow but nuclear snow as a result of a perhaps nuclear holocaust.... "So if you love me Won't you let me know? If you love me, Won't you let me know?"- again chris asks as the "earth" if you love me... act and show me that you love me pretty strait forward when you consider who is doing the speaking and how this is almost a dialogue between "earth" and concerned person sitting at "violet hill" discussing how this all came to happen... "Was a long and dark December From the rooftops I remember There was snow White snow Clearly I remember From the windows they were watching While we froze down below"- frozen in place ( |

i have to believe that this song is beyond just an exiltude of a concert or for the album itself... rather i would argue that this song is about death itself and how the living are trying to tell the recently departed that the time and influence that this person had on them was something that was greatly appreciated no matter how fleeting the moment was... now the living know this person has gone on because of the beautiful day that is going on outside and that they know they don't have anything to fear in death because their friend will be waiting for them their... on a personal note... i started thinking this when on the friday after this album was released i visited my 92yr. old grandfather in the hospital and this was the only song he enjoyed as he and i listened and contemplated life ... he passed away later on that night but not before telling me "i love when we listen to your music" (at the end of this song...) but maybe i am totally wrong.... |

well maybe i wrong... but hopefully i am right on this one... obviously the singer has lost someone of great meaning to them... things in his life have changed and he knows how different things will be now ... he screams to the sun (get up and tell the sun) that he doesn't feel love and this hopeless nothingness has driven him to a bitter bitter end... and now he is circling around somewhere until she finds out that he truly loved her and this is killing him knowing that she may never realize how much he truly and soo deeply cared about her... tough tough tough tough break |
