It's about a sex addict. A person who has become chemically dependant on sex. "open to falling from grace" is the person saying that they will humiliate and do anything to recieve sex. They repeatedly state to the listener to calm them, to balance them. She also wants to keep her interactions sexual and not be intimate with her partners. The reference to death is a reference to an orgasm ("la petit mort"- the little death) and how she feels shame for her actions. |

It's about someone afraid to fall in love and so enters into fake relationships. Where he does not care for them and the partner just wants to be with someone. He does want love....but actively prevents that from happening. "Sucker love is heaven sent."- this relationship is fun and was easily obtained. "You pucker up, our passion's spent."- His partner tries to kiss him after sex. Shows that the partner cares for him. "My hearts a tart"- He heart does not belong to his partner and will move on to the next new thing. "your body's rent"- Could mean that the partner's affection is bought with presents and the like. It could also be an after sex image. Rent can mean torn....so I'm guessing he is a top. "My body's broken, yours is bent"- more after sex imagery. "Carve your name into my arm"- He lets his partner claim him. "Instead of stressed, I lie here charmed"- He doesn't freak out over getting titles. He is just amused that the other person wants him so badly and cares for him. "Cause there's nothing else to do"- He won't change his actions. "Every me and every you"- Broadens the song to include all users and the people that care for them. "Sucker love, a box I choose. No other box I choose to use."- He prefers sucker love. Box is also slang for a woman's pussy. "Another love I would abuse"- He seeks these shams of a relationhip because he knows that he will sabatoge a real connection out of fear. "No circumstances could excuse"- Nothing would excuse his destruction of real love. He actually has alot of respect for this emotion. "In the shape of things to come. Too much poison come undone"- In the future his actions will end this relationship. "Cause there's nothing else to do. Every me and every you"- Again shows that he feel incapable of changing and that this is a common situation. "Sucker love is known to swing"- refers to him. He will leave and be with the next new thing. "Prone to cling"- Refers to the partner. They need the attention of a relationship. This irritates the singer. "and waste these things"- The clinging destroys any chance that this might evolve to a mutual feeling. "Pucker up for heavens sake. There's never been so much at stake"- kiss me and make me feel. What is at stake is his heart. "I serve my head up on a plate"- he offers himself to the other person in an unconventional way. "It's only comfort, calling late"- He is uncomfortable being exposed, so he acts as if he does not care. "Cuz there's nothing else to do. Every me and every you."- repeat of previous theme. "Like the naked leads the blind"- He is lustful and leads on and fools his partner that does not understand (see) what is going on. The partner will alway miss the opportunity offered for real love. "I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind"- He is only looking out for his own pleasure and trying to keep from being hurt. "Sucker love I always find. Someone to bruise and leave behind"- He always seeks this. He wants to know someone cares about him and then leaves them. The partner is a "sucker". "All alone in space and time. There's nothing here but what here's here's mine"- He is alone. There is nothing...not pain or pleasure. He has made it that way. "Something borrowed, something blue" reference to marriage. He does want love. Just my interpretation. |
