| Björk – One Day Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
Our interpretations are relative based on our lives... Mine has to do with how I feel about my overwhelmed, depressed, anxious teenage daughter. "One day, when you're ready... " I actually wrote the lyrics on my daughter's bathroom mirror for her to read whe she's in there. I signed it "Love, Mom & Björk" She's left it on there for over a year. It must mean something to her. |

| Björk – Pleasure Is All Mine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I think it's about being a woman and having all the power, even if you don't realize you do. "Women like us, we strengthen most host-like. When in doubt, give..." Mothers do this not only to their children, but to their husbands. "To get to be the generous one is the strongest stance". The one who is able to give to others is stronger an those receiving the "host-like" strengthening. And, being able to give so much and nourish so many, is pure pleasure as a strong woman—which she definitely is. I must say again: I love her. She is an inspiration to me and I admire her so much. |

| Björk – Cocoon Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I think she is glad to find someone that she likes as much as he likes her. Even stays with her, instead of dressing and leaving. It's about the beautiful discovery of intimacy that you though was not possible for "a girl like me", with "a boy like him". I love Björk! She is is raw, real and unabashed. She's like "The Women Who Run With Wolves". Pure, wild and perfectly imperfect. ❤️ |

| Björk – Hyperballad Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I think she is trapped in a situation—for an unknown reason—and tries to have fun imagining escape. Even an escape where she doesn't survive. And she does this to appreciate being alive and with her companion. Kind of like saying, "it could be worse. I could be dead, but I'm not." I'm just guessing here. I absolutely adore her, and I love her art—no matter what it means or makes me feel. I appreciate her sharing herself with us. She is a very special person that I am very thankful for. |

| Björk – Army of Me Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This song hits me right between the eyes with regards to my mentally ill—but not learning impaired—daughter. In the last 5 years we've had 3 hospitalizations, dozens of hours of therapy, a dozen types of medicines, and entire staff of medical/social/behavioral professionals, and I have given up my career to be available to her for online school. Her latest complaint is that her computer screen gives her migraines, so she can't do her homework—which has been pared down to the bare bones—but why can't her body friend come over tomorrow? "You're alright, there's nothing wrong. Self-suffience, please! And get to work!" An army or ME would be an unsympathetic, demanding, force she will awaken if she does not get to work. I spend hours sympathizing with her about her mood fluctuations, med changes, I do everything I can do. But that doesn't change the fact that she has work to and I will not reward her for not putting in more effort. "You're on your own now, we won't save you. Your rescue squad is too exhausted" Her father and I have worked for years to try to help her get through high school. And now that she is 4 months away from being 18, we are burnt out and too tired to reinvent one more IEP for her. She has worn out everyone that ever tried to help her. She saves her special insults for me, which is why I am particularly ready to show her an "army of me". She won't like it. But Björk makes me feel understood. She's a genius. |

Silver foxes looking for romance In the chain smoke Kansas flashdance ass pants THE best lyric line in all of music history. |
|
| Beck – Readymade Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is my favorite Beck song of all. I never heard sarcastic music until this one. If you take away the lyrics, the music is a mocking, sarcastic rift that is just hilarious. The trumpets followed by the keyboard... just too funny. | |
| Beck – Where It's At Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Beck is what he is. He makes music just for the sake of making it. I bet he doesn't give a shit how many albums he sells. He can do a lot of other things. You know he co-authored a cook book with Julia Child before she died? They didn't call him a renaissance man for nothing. This song kicks ass. |

| Beck – Mixed Bizness Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song makes me feel really naughty. Bad girl naughty. Beck is very sexy in his own way. The kind of lover you would experiment with. | |
| Beck – Round The Bend Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song centers me and soothes me. I turn it on when I'm stressed out and I feel my shoulders relaxing. I love this album. My daughter and I sleep to it sometimes. | |
| Beck – Already Dead Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Hey, I've been there. I know exactly what this feels like. You don't have to break up with someone to feel this. | |
| Skinny Puppy – Tormentor Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I had a really bad car accident while listening to this song. After the car stopped all I heard was "mental shock". | |
| Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
First of all, it's chromosomes, not chromosones. Next, if you are made with more than 46 chromosomes, it is called trisomy and in the form XXX, it is incompatible with life. XXY is Kleinfelter syndrome where the person has ambiguous sex characteristics. Bad things happen with extra chromosomes... it's strictly a metaphor. Also, carp fish have 104 chromosomes (52 pairs), so the complexity of an organism is not dependant on it's genetic make-up. About the song, I think the Carl Jung theory is the best. But only as a metaphor. Remember, DNA is DNA and you can't evolve to have more in order to be a better person. You'll be sterile and retarded and have a short fourth finger and all kinds of weird stuff like that. Trust me. |

| Audioslave – The Last Remaining Light Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"and you too the herd " should be "and yield to the hurt". I don't know what it means to me, but I am haunted by it and I enjoy that. |

| Audioslave – Shadow On The Sun Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Ratmartyr you took the words right out of my mouth. | |
| Audioslave – Bring 'Em Back Alive Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song to me is about bioterrorism--the sickest form of war of all. It reminds me of those wackos in the 70's in the USSR trying to engineer a form of smallpox that would blow past immunity. But if they had succeeded, they probably would have died from it before they could use it. I'm probably way off track here, but that's what I thinkabout. |

| Radiohead – Sail to the Moon. (Brush the Cobwebs Out of the Sky.) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is the only Radiohead song that gives me a feeling of hope (which does not make it any better than all the rest). Ummm... I just don't feel equipped to even guess what he might mean. I just know that it makes me think of my past mistakes (I spoke to soon... and how much did it cost?) and what I can do better in the future. I love to sing along when I'm driving. Just incredible. |

| Radiohead – Blow Out Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song could be about picking daisies and I would still turn it up as loud as it could go. What I want to know is HOW did they come up with the guitar parts that just keep going up and up? My jaw just dropped when I first heard that! And please forgive my gullability... is that REALLY Thom Yorke posting? Do I dare to dream? |

| Radiohead – Climbing Up the Walls Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think it's about insanity, pure and simple. Mental illness has many forms and can be described in many ways, both literal and nonliteral. About the lyrics issue... I think Thom sometimes sings something different than what is published on the album jackets. If you've ever written a poem, you know that sometimes they change with the circumstance. About the music... this is the spookiest sounding song I've ever heard and I absolutely love it. The eerie dissonance resolving into an eaqually eerie note has to be my favorite. I wouldn't let my daughter listen to it for a while 'cause I thought it would scare her. And when she finally heard it in the car, she just asked me to turn on 'No Surprises', which I gladly did. |

| Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Let me say that my life has been made richer for listening to Radiohead. What gets me every time, in so many songs, is Thom's dichotomous messages. His voice is spritually honest, while his lyrics are bleak and hopeless. He sings the most depressing words with the most beautiful voice and to the most intelligent music I've heard in a long time. I am in awe. |

| Radiohead – No Surprises Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
To me this song is about a tortured soul who is giving up on life. Life is so unrewarding, full of contradiction and disappointment that they would rather suck on a tail pipe (carbon-monoxide) than go on. Their death should be uneventful, just as the rest of their life has been, and they are content just to disappear from humanity. Humanity will continue to be shallow and materialistic as the life ebbs away from the poor soul. It's depressing, but tragically beautiful. His vocals are exquisite, as usual, and the video is pure art. Look at the position of the lights on his face, then look at how they transform his face as they come on. |
