First thing: everybody needs to stop apologizing for their interpretations!! If there was only one meaning, you would be listening to diarhea crap samples of poptastic bubble gum bullshit. Some of you are starting to sound like the "squawking birds" spoken of in this song. Caring is Creepy refers to the human need for deciphering, explaining, breaking down and categorizing of every little existential detail. Indeed, can't we just manuever through this life and take what comes our way? There is an aspect of faith contained in the subtext here. Man must have evidence and proof for eveything in this world. The leap of faith is what has become so rare and sacred. We won't take what is not directly before our eyes. |

I'll admit, I hadn't heard of these guys until High Fidelity but I have to say Three Eps is one of my favorite records to listen to in rainy weather. Every detail, from the vocals to the shaky guitar rhythms and the overall drunken quality of their sound (is it because their scottish?), its all perfect. The lyrics are so poetic you drift with them into dreamland. This band is a testament to the power of words (and movie soundtracks for that matter) even if the meaning is not completely clear. Fall asleep to this album and dream of grey skies. |

Every time you open the newspaper or turn on the news theres some tragedy, some conflict, some hopeless struggle to be informed about somewhere in the world. I think Waits is dreaming of happier times, perhaps the joy in hope. "No one puts flowers on a flowers grave," meaning that no one will remember and reflect on happier moments in time. |
