| Immortal Technique – Angel Of Death Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Just so you know, I think the lyrics are "the spawn of Shaitan". | |
| Bôa – Duvet Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Duvet also means down in French, as I've heard. That may have some connection to the title, but I don't know. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Animae Partus II Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
...After listening to this album, I realize its basically Asimov's "The Last Question", in album form. Link for those who haven't read it: http://www.multivax.com/last_question.html |
|
| Pain of Salvation – Iter Impius Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Amazing song, rather straightforward meaning. Check out Porcupine Tree - A Smart Kid for another great song about the last human. | |
| Pain of Salvation – Lilium Cruentus (Deus Nova) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Good song. The chorus reminds me a bit of Sonata Arctica - The Final Chapter. Also, holy crap, Aniland. |
|
| A Silver Mt. Zion – Blindblindblind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Every time ASMZ does the ending repetition chorus, its amazing. This album is great, but now I have to decide if I like it or Horses in the Sky better... | |
| Porcupine Tree – The Creator Has A Mastertape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I wonder if the "stared into the abyss" is a reference to Neitschze and "the abyss staring back". It seems to fit in with the schiozphrenia idea. | |
| Bad Religion – 21st Century (Digital Boy) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=14218 This song seems to me to have basically the same theme as 21st Century Schizoid Man. Honestly, I see the song more as a tribute to it/reimagining of it in a punk style with basically the same theme. Both songs are excellent, and definitely worth listening to. |

| Dream Theater – The Dark Eternal Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Musically, this album is great, a huge step forward for DT. However, I'm not a fan of the shift in lyrical themes. | |
| Dream Theater – Constant Motion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Uhh, ColdenScence, considering Metallica and Slayer came before DT, and Metallica has repeatedly been cited as an influence on DT, I think YOU have it backwards. Hell, DT even covered Master of Puppets! The entire album! To everyone else, thanks for sharing. I never put together that it was about MP's OCD. |
|
| Hed PE – Sabbra Cadabra Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Terrible cover. It sounds like the lead signer is being shaken by an angry fan as he butchers it. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Porcelina of the Vast Oceans Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Although this is a love song, it does seem to have some references to drugs/psychadelica. However, that could just be the euphoria of love. On another night, check out the song by Tiamat called "A Pocket Size Sun". It reminds me a bit of this. (References to love, drugs?, and the ocean) |

| Bomb the Music Industry! – I'm Too Cooool For Music Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is awesome...the Arrested Development quote is just the icing on the cake. Plus, the music is free (http://quoteunquoterecords.com/). It does not get much better than this. |
|
| Agalloch – As Embers Dress The Sky Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Such a beatiful song...it makes me sad that I can't find any bands similar to Agalloch. | |
| Explosions in the Sky – The Only Moment We Were Alone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is beatiful. In my opinion, the ending is easily the best climax in music. | |
| Scissor Sisters – Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Thank God for the Queensryche and Dream Theater version of this song/ It's pure awesomeness balances out the crapiness of this. | |
| Iron Maiden – Hallowed Be Thy Name Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song does seem inspired by the Crucible. We watched the movie in English class the other day, and at the ending, I immediately thought of this song. Kind of ironic, the song far surpasses the inspiration. |
|
| A Perfect Circle – Lullaby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| If you reverse songs, VERY often you will hear words that sound the same. I'm fairly sure it's completely accidental, as I reversed Counting Bodies... and clearly heard "remiss" and various words, not with each other, but in the middle of unitelligible gibberish. I'm fairly sure the "incest" is just a coincidence, seeing as backmasking is often unintentional. Hell, my friend's joke band reversed a song, and discovered that "fly around" sounds the exact same backwards and fowards when I was singing it. | |
| Electric Wizard – Behemoth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah, again EW isn't happy with how the world is today. See Funeralopolis. Oh, and listen to "Dopethrone" (the song), I'd say that's more like their Iron Man. (listen to the riff closely) | |
| Dream Theater – You Not Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| If you ever get a chance, pick up Dream Theater's "Trial of Singles". Its a collection of demos and rare songs...They have the original of this on there, and IMO, the original blows this out of the water. The chorus, the most "pop" part is very different, there's another keyboard section...much better overall. | |
| Interpol – Take You on a Cruise Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The "cruise ship" could also be a reference to a "vacation reference": Despite what either of them say, it won't last. At the end of their "cruise" (sex), they'll go their seperate ways and back to being lonely again...until they do it over with some other person. | |
| Dream Theater – The Ytse Jam Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| You should listen to it, it's one of DT's best songs. (IMO of course.) | |
| Dream Theater – Trial of Tears Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Seems to me like this song is about a person who ran away from home to NYC, thinking it's heaven, realising it's not, and after failing to make it, looking for a way home. It's one of DT's best, IMO. |
|
| System of a Down – Cigaro Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Hypocrisy. It's that easy to sum up. Also, I gotta go with Xolom on this one. I'd take P.L.U.C.K. or Soil over this any day. |
|
| System of a Down – Know Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Woah...listen to this at 1/2 speed...it's like a whole new song. It sounds awesome. | |
| Dream Theater – Voices Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It could also be paranoia vs. religion. | |
| Dream Theater – Only a Matter of Time Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Wow, no comments on such an excellent song... From the lyrics, I think it might be about a sea voyage of a young man, who has put his whole life into this, and his belief that he cannot fail is all that keeps him going. *deep breath* Then again, it could be a metaphor for how Dream Theater had to succeed... |
|
| Muse – Overdue Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Sounds to me like he was cheated on. | |
| Muse – Uno Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
cobiatic: James Bond is exactly what I thought of when I heard the bass. It could be about an ex, and he's saying to her "Look at us now". |
|
| Muse – Fillip Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Phil=latin root for love. From the lyrics, it could be about him breaking up with a girl, then becoming more attached. Accuse me Trust me, I never knew That you were the one You were the one |
|
| Sum 41 – Thanks For Nothing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This is def. Sum 41's best song. | |
| Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Also, when he sings "And shine!" in both of the splits, it goes into a long solo, as if he(Syd) finally heard him. | |
| Smile Empty Soul – Your Way Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"everyone has a different fight a different wound that keeps them bleeding " I dunno why, but I love these lyrics so much. I think it could also be about how you can't help somebody "see the light" (as in depression, religion, etc.), they have to find it themselves. |
|
| Smile Empty Soul – This Is War Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
SlasherLS: You're a Metallica fan, right? What about Disposable Heros, that had basically the same message. "Had no chance to see myself/Molded day by day" Both songs are about media/government brainwashing us. (Metallica played it better, but meh.) In any case, this can be taken the exact opposite from what it's meant if you want, just take it seriously, instead of as a satire. |
|
| Hatebreed – Final Prayer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It doesn't sound like the rest of their songs, but it kicks ass. Incredible... | |
| Staind – Blow Away Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I first actually listened to this song a few weeks before I graduated from the school I'd gone to for 9 years, basically, I'd grown up with the people there. Now, we're all scattered apart to different high schools, and rarely speak. Yet again, Staind has come out with a song a just the right moment in my life ("Outside" and "Waste" before) I think this song is basically a reflection on all the friendships lost, how things will never be the same, and how sad it makes him that these are just memories now. |
|
| System of a Down – Roulette Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think this song is from the perspective of a man who thinks he may be in love with this woman, but she makes him unsure that she loves him, and he begins to doubt his feelings. I have a problem that I can not explain I have no reason why it should've been so plain (The one thing he couldn't handle was love.) I have no questions but I sure have excuse I lack the reason why I should be so confused (He doesn't know why he should be confused, he's sure he loves her now.) I know, how I feel when I'm around you I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you (He begins to doubt) Around You... Left a message, but it ain't a bit of use (She won't call him.) I have some pictures but what might be the deuce (Sounds kinda stalkerish...or he's "getting the next best thing" to actually being with her.) Today you saw, you saw me, you explained (She told him why she didn't call?) playing the show when running down the plane (@_@ no. idea.) I know, how I feel when I'm around you I don't know, how I feel when I'm around you I, I know, how I feel when I'm around you I, don't know, how I feel when I'm around you (He loves her but doesn't want to be hurt.) Around you... I, I know, how I feel when I'm around you I, don't know, how I feel when I'm around you I, I know, how I feel when I'm around you I, don't know, how I feel when I'm around you... Around you... Around you... Around you... Around you.. |

| AFI – This Time Imperfect Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
To me, this song was about a suicide. His lover killed herself, and he's saying how much it hurts him that she gave up on life, and left him here all alone. I think it's written from his perspective at the funeral. I cannot leave here, I cannot stay (He can't stand to be there, but he can't leave.) Forever haunted, more than afraid (Not scared to be alone, but he's troubled by it.) Asphyxiate on words I would say (He just can't say what he wants to say, who she really was, and what she was like) I'm drawn to a blackened sky As I turn blue (I dunno, I think it's how he gets drawn towards the idea of suicide too) There are no flowers No, not this time There will be no angels Gracing the lines Just these stark words I find (I think this is about finding the suicide note, and all he's left with are these horrible words about how she can't take it. Then again, I saw before someone post about how he puts flowers in his songs, so maybe it's about how he can't even make it beautiful/appreciating her beauty, just this deep sadness from her loss.) I'd show a smile But I'm too weak (He can't even act brave, it troubles him this much.) I'd share with you Could I only speak Just how much this hurts me (He can't really say just how much she meant to him.) Just like all I loved I'm make believe Imagined heart, I disappear Seems no one will appear here And make me real (I'm not too sure about this, it sounds like it's about how he used to lose himself in his imagination and fantasies, but now there is no one to make them come true.) I'd tell you how it haunts me I'd tell you how it haunts me Cuts through my day And sinks into my dreams I'd tell you how it haunts me Cuts through my day And sinks into my dreams You don't care that it haunts me (He's saying how people don't care, or realise how much this person's death has affected him. It hurts him constantly, and they just don't care.) I may be completely off, but correct or not, this is a beautiful song. Execellent lyrics, and a ton of emotion. |
