Eminem – Rock Bottom Lyrics 18 years ago
The guitar riff in this song is totally taken from Summertime by Janis Joplin.

Cradle of Filth – All Hope In Eclipse Lyrics 19 years ago
phatpat, I can assure that this song has nothing to do with werewolves. The reference to Miss Anne Thropy is a scarcely noticed pun on the word misanthrope which is defined as a person who bears a great hatred for humanity. It is not a reference to lycanthropy. The refrain "all hope lies in eclipse" is likely meant to simply say that hope lies doused in shadow.

Although I do not neccessarily believe this song is about Hitler specifically, it does seem to fall in line with the concepts thereof. For instance:

The comming of extinction
Hitler desired to set the mass of "undesirable races unto extionction"

An acid reign to purify the world
Hilter saught to purify the world of undesirables.

Save for an unfurled flag of hate
the hooked cross or swastika

To enthral a mindless zombie race
The aryans who mindlessly follwed Hitler's lead

In spite of these similarities, because of the nature of much of the song, I really doubt that this is simply about "nazis and stuff"

Cradle of Filth – Lord Abortion Lyrics 19 years ago
Dressed2Depress pretty much hit the nailed the coffin with considerable precesion, so I'll handle already discussed semantics:

When Dani says that his ambition is to slay anon a sinner in the hands of a dirty god, he is simply stating that it is his will to do this in time to come. "My ambition is to soon kill a sinner in the hands of a dirty god."

If he where refering to the figure, Anon, the word would liekly be capitalised.

System of a Down – Ego Brain Lyrics 21 years ago
In my opinion, the song tells the bitter story of a man who dies in shame due to the egotistical state of his mind.

At the very beginning of the song, Serj says that life is merely a dream and that our material presence is insignificant. What is significant is one's mind. When one's mind is tainted by egotism (ego brain) then one's death shall be in shame.

The character has fought for land, and as he dies, a woman attempts to purify his egotism by professing that love pevails over all. Will he accept this and be pure, or remain egotistical and die in shame?

System of a Down – Suggestions Lyrics 21 years ago
The government is functioning as a single entity operation from atop an all-seeing platform. These "viewers" have been trained well to keep a constant watch.

The people who work within this entity dominate all the working class of America.

The truthfull answers are available, but to gain them, you must be directly subservient to the government.

The people who work in the government have been hypnotised and manipulated, and their suggestions guide the ships/people.

The orange light is the guiding light from the lighthouse/government. It is not a true god, but will establish itself as an all-powerful tyrant.

If you become enligtened and point accusations toward the government, their light will no longer guide you and you will be consumed by fog.

Since the government has assumed the shape of an all powerful god-like tyrant, it will damn you to hell/severe punishment if you seek answers.

At the end Serj's voice is frantic and observes that the ships/people are enligtened and are growing in numbers. They are heading toward the shore and will soon engage in a revolution to subvert the system. To save their lives they must evacuate the platform and admit that their rule has come to an end.

System of a Down – Peephole Lyrics 21 years ago
In the official booklet that comes with purchase of the Cd, System of a Down offers the following before the lyrics: "The February 18 edition of Britain's NEW SCIENTIST Magazine reports that the Geneva-based World Health Organization suppressed, under political pressure a report which confirmed that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco"

With that said, I believe that Serj is, throughout the verses, asking if one ever get high to the point of danger. "When your stars are baked, and your rivers fly, do you ever believe you were stuck in the, sky." All the others seem to follow this formula. During the several times where Serj says "Don't ever get stuck in the sky," he seems to be mockingly saying what supporters of what opposers of marijuana might say to users of the drug. This song isn't too complex, but the message is very indirect and a puzzle to decode.

System of a Down – Marmalade Lyrics 21 years ago
In my opinion, this song depicts a vivid rape scene. This can be determined from comments like duct tape her legs, scream for cover, and the pansies raided the pantry. In the last one the pansies refer to the rapists and the pantry is her rich vagina and possibly her innocence. During the part where Serj says, "If today I die and can't deny the poison chosen for tonight," I think that this is simply the victim pondering the possibility of being murdered by the rapists after sex and not being able to deny or prevent it. The second to last segment is somewhat difficeult to understand. From what I could determine: borrowed keys may be what was used to break in and enter, furry roadkill is her hairy vagina, house on the hill is the nipple on her breast while she is horozontal, and pouring gravy is profuse ejaculation.

Pink Floyd – The Trial Lyrics 21 years ago
This song depicts a mans struggle to maintain himself, and continue to reside within his protective barrier. His plea is for insanity, surely it will bring about a less severe punishment. The opposition's claim is that he cannot truely be insane, for he was cought showing feelings af an almost human nature. The chorus is simply his plea for insanity. Skipping over the obvious nature of the first two verses, the final verse holds the most powerful meaning. In its last two lines, the judge states, "I sentence you to be exposed before your peers Tear down the wall!" In this statement, the judge has not issued a sentence of death nor detention. He has observed his most guided fear and has chosen to expose him and tear down his protective wall. "The Wall" is also a concept used in "Another Brick in the Wall." In the first to parts of that song, the singer renders the stringent British education system and the departing of his father as bricks in the wall. They are pieces of his life that will cause him to build up a protective wall around himself and reside in a solid confort zone.
