| Modest Mouse – I Came as a Rat (Long Walk Off a Short Dock) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think a lot of Isacc's songs are just his experiences with psychodelic drugs. A lot of the lyrics to me sound like inscribed ramblings after or during his trips. | |

| Is this song about St. Augustine, FL? I live there and I can't figure out how it applies... | |

This song is about Matt's regretful stay in Australia. Hence, "I watched the proverbial sunrise coming up over the Pacific end." He was basically in solitude, "I talk to absolutely no one", and in the song he is reviewing his life and his walk with God. |

I disagree with Roihclem. I just went to their concert in Orlando, and they said, "This song is about when you love someone, but you're not exactly happy with them." I think its about a relationship with a girl that was gone awry. This song is awesome and got me through some tough times... and the second part (Let It All Out) of this song is great too even though a lot of people at the concert said it was lame... I continued to belt out every single word... very powerful and also very noble of Matt to play such a slow song at a rock concert. |

| Spoon – Back to the Life Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I think it's about God and Satan. The only part that doesn't make sense is the word "Son", unless you take it so that Satan was God's righthand man, and almost like a son... (pre-Christ) The rest makes a lot of sense though. "You must go back to the life" Satan was banished from Heaven and back to the "life" or the Earth, where humans are, Satan's domain. "Go back your bag" Again, God banished Satan from Heaven "Take up your scyhte" A Grim Reaper reference. Satan and the Grim Reaper are similar religious/mythologic beings. "Cause this world wasn't meant for us both" Again with the banishing from Heaven. Satan betrayed God and now God doesn't want him in His domain. "WHO MADE THE NIGHT WHO MADE THE DAY WHO GAVE YOU LIFE WHO GAVE YOU SAY" All references to God. God made the day, night, life, and granted us freewill. "WHO RULES THE DAY WHO RULES THE NIGHT" Satan is said to be the ruler of Earth where he will stay until judgement day and be throw into the Lake of Fire.. etc etc... Does that make any sense at all? Or am I pulling this all out of my ass? |

| Spoon – The Fitted Shirt Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This is my FAVORITE Spoon song. I love the riff to this song. I think it's mainly about nostalgia (a common theme in Spoon's lyrics). The singer is nostalgic about the old days and memories of his father. He is also searching for something he can't find (Been looking so long now/And no one's seen and no one's heard) and his dad's fitted shirt is the only thing that brings him memory of what he used to love. Anyway, there's a few mistakes in the lyrics: When I was still growing up And Dad'd head off to work He'd put coat and tie on Over a fitted shirt Nothing else would fit right Or seem (sounds like "all seams" too) so directly applied The fitted shirt hung on me The fitted shirt alright I long for the days They used to say Ma'am and yes sir For now I'm going to find Buttons for my Dad's old used shirt Fitted shirt Fitted shirt Been looking so long now And no one's seen and no one's heard But when I go out tonight I'm gonna put on a fitted shirt One day it'll take And they'll start to make Shirts that fit right Til then I suppose I still got Dad's clothes And that's alright Fitted Shirt Fitted Shirt |

| Relient K – Jefferson Aero Plane Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I really like this song. The variations, the piano, the middle part, all of it. It makes me feel better like getthejacket said. I really like "I think I'll go eat cereal and stare out the window." Because it reminds me of myself whenever I go home from college, because I have no friends at home and I'm kinda lonely, so I wake up sometime in the afternoon and eat cereal and just stare out the window... haha. *sigh* I think this song is about loniless and how to deal with it. I don't know if it's supposed to be Jefferson Airplane (the band) or Jefferson Aero Plane... (what is that?). It's spelt both ways in the lyrics. "And it seems to get much colder When you cry on your own shoulder" That is just genius. |
