| Disturbed – Stricken Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Just before the album was released, Draiman was a guest on a show on Music Choice to talk about it (I forget the exact show.) and, when asked what this song is about, he said that it's about when someone convinces themself that they can't live without another person. That terrible feeling a person can get in his or her gut when they even imagine the thought of a certain man or woman never wanting to be with them (again, or ever in the case of stalkers, etc.) | |
| Damageplan – Save Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yes, any true metal fan will agree that Dimebag met his end far too soon, but isn't this forum meant to discuss what these songs mean to us? IMHO "Save Me" is about a person who's life's path is leading him to self-destructive behavior calling out for help from friends or family that either don't see that he has a problem or are too self-absorbed to bother helping him. | |
| King's X – Over My Head Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is about Doug Pinnick's childhood with his grandmother, a christian woman that went to church every day, and every night she would sing/pray about how much she loved Jesus, while young Doug sat in his room depressed/confused about how she could love Jesus so much, when she never ever told him she loved him, and would tell him that nobody wanted him (because, obviously, neither of his parents "loved him enough to raise him".) -Doug Pinnick tells the audience this story at the end of singing this song on the "Best of King's X" album. | |
| Disturbed – Stupify Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| or, wait, nevermind what I said about the girl's folks not letting her come to his "fruition", that was Bull Shit, sorry. He just said that "the relationship with her wasn't allowed to come to fruition" because of their different ethnicities.. | |
| Disturbed – Stupify Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, itzadoodzy, if you'd read the posts about this song, you'd know that the song is about a latino girl that wasn't allowed to come to his fruition (which is a Hebrew ceremony/party/gathering for young men when they're going through , or have gone through? puberty. I'm not Jewish, so not sure.) So, he was obvious inviting this girl to his fruition hoping to get his "first taste of action". but, because her parents were, probably, devout Catholics, or maybe it was all about race, cuz she was latino? they didn't allow her to go to his fruition, and it frustrated him enough that he carried that anger with him at least until he wrote this song! And, I'm sure that's why the line "All the Jente in the barrio, fuck!" is in it. Because Jente is Spanish for "people". And, for you retards that think this song, or band, sucks, that's your opinion, and you're welcome to it. But, the rest of the world obviously doesn't agree with you, because this album went double-platinum, and I'm sure "Believe" did pretty well at least! So, it isn't like Disturbed needs you to love their music in order to make money.. | |
| In Flames – The Quiet Place Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Since the website is called songmeanings.net, and not BandDebate.net, I'm going to go ahead and write what I think this song is about! After listening to this song a few dozen times, lyrics in-hand, I've decided that "The Quiet Place" is a state of mind that the songwriter, or the person he's writing abt., enters when he's doing drugs. "It's spinning further, deeper". is the sensation he has when he's starting get his high, "I know you're out to try me, I'm not in this to be a slave." could be his conscience rebelling against the addiction of the drugs, and his wanting to become free of the addiction. "Push the dirt, make me feel", I think is his way of saying how, since he's prettymuch numb when taking the drugs, he'd like to die, even if it's only to feel something. "Locate what swallows life Night bird you build my world". is his expressing how the addiction has (or had) become his life, and the "Night bird" is a synonym for whatever he was taking to get high. "And then I close my eyes". I think is exactly that, when he was doing the drug, while high, he'd close his eyes, and lay down to revel in the high. Finally, I think the whole "Judge me now, to King in my mind" is about how, when he's locked away wherever getting high, closing his eyes & safe, he was/is so content that no matter how others judged him, when he's high, he was a king, in his own mind, and the "Bow down" line is his way of telling his family/friends, whoever, that looked down on his drug use that they were his inferiors while he was high. That's just my take on this song, anyhow.. | |
| In Flames – Evil In A Closet Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Defenitely a great song, but, to me, the last line: "I wish that I could say... I wish I could be your evil in a closet" says, to me, that there's something in him that wishes that she would cheat with him, on her lover, so that they could share some of what they once shared, but he's unsure about even attempting to be with her behind her lover's back. (Maybe because her current lover is his friend, or a relative?) That's my take on it anyhow.. | |
| Iced Earth – Jack Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Great song, and, if you know anything about psychology and/or serial killers, this song makes a lot of sense on how/why "Jack the Ripper" killed as many prostitutes as brutally as he did.. | |

| Like Klacid, I'd never even heard of IF before a good friend gave me the "Soundtrack to your Escape" sampler-CD. And it's because this song was on it that I bought this album. True I've only had this CD for just under a month, but this is definitely my favorite track on the album and, since everyone is entitled to an opinion, mine happens to go hand in hand with the others on this thread that love this song! Also, since I don't personally know any of the members of the band, I'm not going to get pissed-off or offended by anything that has posted, posts, or will post, how much they hate this song! Because, no matter what you post, I'll still be cranking it up in my stereo! | |
| In Flames – Borders and Shading Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"Again and again Your face reminds me of a bleak future Despite the absence of hope I give you this sacrifice.." IMO, it's lines like this that turn me on to a song. Esp. since this excerpt can apply to most anything, whether it's about a relationship with a family member or significant other. Plus the song is powerful, whether you study the lyrics or not! |
