mojo pin is a heroin needle, the soings basically a guy whose lost his one true love (the black beuty he refers to) and has resorted to smack......and uses it to take away his emotinal pain.....if you interprit the lyrics carefully you will also notice him hinting the blame for the addiction on "black beuty" In real life jeff wasnt a smack addict but did do a lot of drink and drugs....so he could have tried it at some point.........although it did kill his father so maybe he didnt.....who knows |

This song is basically about being so happy and euphoric with true love that nothing, not even your death could sadden you. Listen to the live at Sin-e version and there is a quote "This is a song about not fearing your own mortality when you have true love" suicide where the fuck did you get that from?! By the way. The acoustic version is my favirout version of this song, i would have liked to hear it with the "Real" riff rather than that pot string strumming on the 10 and 12th fretts |

In jeffs own words, this is a prayer of orgasm Basically what i get from this song, is the comparisson Of pure love, taken with pure lust and how both can have incredibly powerful, almost biblical eefctrs on somebody. As for the cohen version i really dont care for it (there are 2 cohen versions, ones slighltly jazzy/lougney) I think the wainright version is excellent, Rufus has a good voice, but is far too cold and sterile With his delivery. Jeff swells this song with emotion, bringing every word straight from his soul to yours. As for the falsetto issue, its simply not used at all in this song, its all head voice there is some fallsetto on grace, such as "Keep me satisfieeeeedddd" on mojo pin, and the REALLY high stuff toward the end of "grace" But mostly it is head voice.....Later on in his career after he started smoking, jeffs voice deteriorated, and he had to resort to falsetto on the higher stuff whereas previously he'd sang it in head voice Jeffs all time crowning moment just has to be the trumpet range falsetto on "The way young lovers do" live at Sin-e amazing! |

This song was origionally recorded for grace but was taken off at the last minit, its about jeffs split with becci moore. another interesting fact, if you've noticed, the way this song fades ouit, theres actually another bit of lyrics, but sony cut it off on the british release.....jeffs mother mary told them to not do this but they did it anyway......she was erally pissed off as you can imagine! |
