I think the long day he's describing in the song is the day after breaking up with a girl he loved. "the note she wrote that i can't get myself to throw away." I def know the feeling of not being able to part wit things that do nothing but remind you of someone you really just need to forget but can't. He's fighting with himself because he knows he needs to let her go but his personality is such that he can't. He loves her too much and he's devoted too much to her. Therefore he's fighting himself. "I'm here all the time, I won't go away." Everything about him has been consumed by her and now just being there by himself is enough to remind him of her. If everything you do, everything you see.....even just sitting there by yourself makes you think of someone you loved and lost......I'd say that'd be a pretty long day. |

Having someone who you love so much but who you know is a negative impact on your life, for whatever reason, is hard. This song does an amazing job portraying the struggle between loving someone and rejecting those things they do to hurt you at the same time. The line "every silent scream and you never listen" describes perfectly what it's like to try to tell someone what they do to hurt you.....for them to promise to try to change.....and then to turn right back to those things they always do. This song has real passion. |
