Iron & Wine – My Lady's House Lyrics 20 years ago
i'm surprised no one's commented on this song yet.. it is absolutely beautiful, so incredibly moving; though much of Iron & Wine's work is. I think this is about someone he knows loves him, but can't figure out why. He can't really figure out her many sides or why she loves him, and he doesn't really need to know why, just knowing that she loves him is more than enough to get him through the day. Pure beauty. Sam Beam you are a genius.

The Decemberists – Sixteen Military Wives Lyrics 20 years ago
Colin Meloy, the frontman of The Decemberists, has a degree in creative writing, which makes me wonder if there is some sort of relationship between all the numbers used in this song. 16 miltary wives, 17 company men, 15 celebrity minds, 18 celebrity chairs, 14 cannibal kings.. one number never mentioned is 13.. (un)lucky thirteen.. anyone have any ideas?

Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics 20 years ago
ben gibbard at his best.. this song is absolutely beautiful. turning on the "no's" on vacancy signs.. so clever. definitely up there on my favourite songs off "plans" so far.

Snow Patrol – Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking Lyrics 20 years ago
the inevitability of death.. "a clock is ticking but it's hidden far away/safe and sound" and when that clock is done ticking, your life will be over.. as far as "every second, dripping off my fingertips," I think he's in character.. writing the song as if he were the clock, and it's just another way of saying that the seconds are ticking away, there's nothing you can do to reverse it, they're just 'dripping' away.. irreversiblity of time..

Bright Eyes – Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics 21 years ago
this song is definitely about drugs, more specifically cocaine and/or methamphetamine (speed). don't just take into account the lyrics, but the title.. down in a rabbit hole.. what other famous books/movies does someone fall down a hole while on drugs? *cough* alice in wonderland *cough* just a thought
