I'm fairly sure it says "I'm a curse hanging around you." Only because it makes mroe sense given the context, but I can hardly tell. jimmytremor, where did you hear for sure that it was 'ghost'? |

The kid in New York and the kid in the Bay thing... That bit of 'homecomeing' is written and sung by tre, and its autoiographical. Tre was married and has two kids, presumably in new york and the bay area of California, where green day is from. That whole segment is supposed to be a postcard from some guy named Tunny who's a random friend of Jesus of suburbia. I personally think that St. Jimmy and JOS are the same person, but St. Jimmy is who JOS is forced to turn into when he's on the streets/ a personality disorder. When Jimmy kills himself it could be a literal interpretation that the guy really killed himself (if they aren;t the same person) or that Jesus realised that he had finally become who he'd most despised, an American Idiot, and after the loss of Whatsername decides to shake off St. Jimmy and go home. Or to some equivalent. St. Jimmy is a wonderful song to thrash to. wahoo! |

He definitely says 'petulance' where the ??'s are. If you look at the chorus, its just restating what he just said. "Petulance and irritation set in" So it makes sense. |
