| Joshua Radin – Girlfriend in a Coma (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This is a great cover, and I personally like it better than the original just because his voice. It doesn't have a deep meaning. It's about a boy whose girlfriend is in a coma and while when she was fine they would fight and stuff (could have strangled her!) he doesn't want any harm to ever come to her. People are trying to comfort him saying she'll pull through, but he knows that she's in bad condition and that she won't pull through.... and she doesn't. |

This is about a girl being in love with a boy, but the boy doesn't even see her. She thinks the world of him but he just gets more high and mighty about himself. Then the girl moves on, finally, and then the boy realizes that she was all he had... and how is world is over now because he took her for granted. "You had and lost the one thing you kept in a safe place. Remember the face of the girl who made you her own and how you left her alone..." |

| Joshua Radin – Do You Wanna? Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This a really beautiful song, and it reminds me greatyly of Elliott Smith. I don't know what this song is about, really, but I would venture to say someone is so distraught over something that they want to hurt themselves. "You're sitting in your chair/no ones around/your lights are turned down low/and your skin feels about to tear/and you is no sound" is where the person is feeling despair and the singer is scared for them because they don't talk about how they're feeling ,"and all I am is frightened for you now/'cause you run and" The singer wants to show the person all the good things about their life and though they are having a hard time now, they want to tell them how many good things are still to come, but the other person focuses on the bad "how can I show you that you're done/you're on your knees/picking up the pieces from your past/but there's nothing more to gather/holding on to moments that won't last/or would you rather end it all/do you wanna?" I think this next part is about the other person having a son, "sitting there is him/he has your eyes/calling you to somehow join them and you're writhin' in your skin and buyin' his lies/not realizing that you're home/won't you come home and" I think that this son has died and that is why the person is grieving, they want to join the son in heaven. The next bit is unclear to me and doesn't fit in to what I think the song is about, per se, unless it's the person calling like a suicide hotlin trying to get past the feelings, "no one believes you smile alone./you wanna retrieve your high on the phone/but when you hang up all I wanna do is help you to..." Then it finished again with wanting to help the person over this hard time in their life by reminding them "Would you rather end it all... Do you wanna?" to show them that life goes on, and it does get better. That's what I get. |

I heard this song on an episode of Grey's Anatomy and it was so beautiful the way it was used. My favorite part is the phone. |

| Moby – Beautiful Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This is a great song, and if you haven't seen the video it's about just loving each other for who you are. Now, if you've seen the music video then it could also be about loving one person and one person only. In the music video a bunch of people are at a Plushie party. Plushies are people that wear animal costumes and get off on each other, basically. There's more to it than that, I'm sure. At any rate, they draw keys to see who hooks up with who to go "yiff" (Wikipedia or Urbandictionary it) and a boy bunny gets hooked up with a girl squirrel. The bunny decides he doesn't want to yiff the squirrel after all because he loves his bunny too much so he goes to find her. He sees that she is happily yiffing a moose and he pulls out a gun. First he shoots the moose, then he commits suicide. So when you try to analyze the song with the music video in mind, it's about being comfortable with who you are, who you're with, and what you do. The bunny, in the end, couldn't stand that his bunny wanted to be with other people. Mhm. |

| Ivy – Edge Of The Ocean Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is about renewal and looking for the things or person that will complete you and your life. There's a place I dream about where the sun never goes out. [your personal Utopia] And the sky is deep and blue. Won't you take me there with you. [sharing your Utopia with a special someone] Ohhh, we can begin again. Shed our skin, let the sun shine in. At the edge of the ocean we can start over again. [demonstrates renewal of the soul and shedding what the world has made them and going back to a more innocent child-like easy-going state-of-mind] There's a world I've always known somewhere far away from home. [the dream of what you want for yourself in life] When I close my eyes I see all the space and mystery. [it's hard to fathom what you will become some day] Ohhh, we can begin again. Shed our skin, let the sun shine in. At the edge of the ocean we can start over again. [renewal, again, and finding those feelings you had once] This song can be about running away with a lover or friend to a place where they can be happy or even two loves who lost themselves along their way together and how they're wanting to go back to when their love was just beginning. This is a beautiful song used in many TV shows and not many people recognize the artist despite their distinct and beautifully simple music. |

| Ivy – I've Got A Feeling Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song seems to be about a person who is waiting for the one person who will make their world complete. She is both searching for the person and waiting for them to find her. She believes that once she finds this person that is all she will ever need and her life which is paused will go back into play. | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I go along with the general concensus about the song, but I personally like to think that it isn't about him and another person, but a struggle with him and... himself. I'm not saying that's -right- but I like to think that. When you're addicted you need them and when you try to get out you can't so he wants to save himself from his addiction but he just -can't-. Here he is talking to the drug: "Stay with me You're the one that I need You make the hardest things Seem easy " This is showing how the drugs have taken a hold of him and he is losing touch of himself and who he is: "Keep my heart Somewhere drugs don't go Were the sun shines low Always keep me close If only you could see The stranger next to me You promised you promised that you're done But i can't tell you from the drugs Don't let go Dig a great big hole Down an endless hole Will both go You're so blind You can't see me this time Hope comes from inside And I feel so low tonight" He keeps promising himself that he will quit, he just keeps getting deeper and deeper and more disconnected from himself. That's -my- rendition. |

| Bob Dylan – It's All Over Now, Baby Blue Lyrics | 21 years ago |

The title of the song as most of you probably already know is "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," someone simple left the "now" out. Careless users, tsk tsk. Wilcokid got the -correct- lyrics. I do believe this piece is about changes because of Bob Dylan's change from accoustic to electric (which upset many, many people), but I can also see how you could take this song a step further and say it relates to a suicide. Before you get all huffy, let me explain: Its not a -suicide- of a person, but a change in phases of their life thus appearing as though that last part of them has died. I contrive this from the same reasons one might say the song is simply about changes, I just get a visual of death through "Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you. Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you. The vagabond who's rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore. Strike another match, go start anew And it's all over now, Baby Blue." Just because "it's all over now" doesn't mean its the -end-. |
