i think this song is about one of anthony's many road trips to get clean. in his book he talked about a few of them and each time hed take a little bit of coke and a little bit of heroin to "wean" himself off, ie "...with my two favorite allies." (coke and heroin, his two drugs of choice) also "these smiling eyes are just a mirror for the sun" ie hes so strung out that his eyes (and whats behind them) serve no purpose except as a surface for the sun to reflect into. |

i think this song is about a rich dude who marries woman and kills them. "he calls the mansion not a house but a tomb" because there are so many dead bodies scattered about inside. "hes always choking from the stench and the fume" because of all those bodies. "down by the pool he doesnt have many friends cuz theyre all face down and bloated" (more people hes killed). the lines "say goodbye to the vows you take, to the life you make" along with "share the vows at the wake" are refering to all of the woman and how theres no point in taking those vows. they might as well take them at their funerals. the second verse is about one of the many woman in particular. she is just marrying him for his money and has no idea whats comign to her. -thats just my interpretation although ive heard some other pretty good ones |

i think that this song is about dutin questioning his faith. he doesnt know where to turn wants a sign for god to know that he exists and that hes noit wating his life. "saints" refer to hes checked out the religious teachings and "scholars" to the scientific and PRACTICAL teachings but still has not found any answers. the line" ill stare straight into the sun and i wont close my eyes till i understand or go blind" is one of the best lines ever written. p.s. im an atheist so dont bitch |

i think that its obvious this song is about prison. first he gets in a gunfight in a resteraunt and the cops say "come with your arms raised high" and he goes to jail. then the secnod verse is undeniably about being in jail. i think this song is baout standing up for what you believe in no matter how hard it is. "...shed your yellow. take my hand and then, well solve the mystery of laceration gravity." - i am not sure but i think this is saying dont be a coward just take my hand and we can do anything because laceration gravity doesnt mean anything as far as i know so solving its mystery would be impossible. (if you know what laceration gravity means please tell me) "cross the patron saint of switch blade fights"- agian saying you can do something impossible because to cross the patron saint of switchblade fights would be stupid and youd get cut up becuase he is the best at switchblade fights. "oh how wrong we were to think that immortality meant never dying" means that if you do stand up for what you believe in even after you die something will remain because of what you have done and in essence you will be immortal even though you are dead. |

i think this song is without a doubt about religion and how he doesnt believe in it. of course there can be multiple interpretitions but i think that there are some undeniable biblical allusions in these lyrics. i myself am an atheist, and i believe this song is about how gerard is one too. he calls whoever hes talking to "sister"(nun). "I wouldnt front the scene if you paid me. i'm just the way that the doctor made me." he will not get behinf the religious "scene." and docotr refers to the fact he believs in science rather than religion. "give me a reason to believe." he wants proof or even any way to justify devoting his life to going to church and whatnot. also the lyrics are wrong here...it is actually "preach all you want but who's gonna save me?" and i think that is saying organized religion can preach all they waNT but christ will never "save" him. obviously, "i keep a gun in 'the book' you gave me" is a reference to the bible and liek the gun is saying fuck the bible. umm.. "black is the kiss the touch of the serpeant son." the serpeant son is a reference to kane who is called the serpeant son after he murders his brother able. also "the mark or the scar" is the mark on kane's forehead... and thchorus is basically saying theyll never convince him... but thats just my interpretation |
