k, This is what i think now:
I think this song can be really dark if you think abou it
they started living in an old house, his mom had a baby boy, he tried to be friends with him(bought him a toy), but he got all the attention(toothache)
I think the parents were abusive too(little place to fight)
And i agree with hppyniss with the letters thing and its easy if you dont know better because i bet other peopel knew about the abuse and were trying to help, but he didnt want help anyways
anyways, he was always resentful to his brother(crying sounded liek an earthquake)
His parents accidently killed the brother(being abusive), but he blames his brother's death on himself(i stopped it, rags dolls...pins in it)
and that can refer too voo doo too when you wish pain and death on another person
so after he dies, they are a family now with out the brother and tehy still fight though
he tries to say that he doesnt owe anything to his brother for his death(we dont know you, we dont owe you)
but his brother's death is driving him mad(ive got soemthin else to show you)
they are doing fine(keep warm)
but everyone is trying to get them caught(theres just something wrong with ya)
the brother is the hardest buitton to button because the top button on a coat is the hardest one to button and its even harder for a child to do, hence he having a hard time covering up the murder, and having a hard time moving on from the death, and he isnt letting the guilt go, its driving him mad(backyard, with nothin in it
the dog and stick-idont know but i agree with the box being th coffin and the coffin has his brother in it, and its in his backyard because the brother was murdered and they are keeping it secret.

You can't condemn joss stone for trying out this song. i know she might have changed the mood of it but look what the Whitestripes did to dolly parton's Jolene. Dolly Parton fans could be saying the same thing about Jack White and that's not very nice now is it? well i like the whitestipes version of this song better anyways but still, you shouldn't condemn other artists like that anyways. |

It sounds kinda scary. Cuz its like he had this little brother and he hated him so much and he wished he would die(voo doo doll) and well it actually did. so they moved on(new house) but he feels so guilty about it. the hardest button to button would be the one on the babys clothes when they get him ready to be buried. hes trying to tell him slef it wasnt his fault(easy when you didnt know better) but deep down its his fault and his heart is emtpy(backyard with nothign in it). he just cant let the death of his brother go. eh?? yeah thats what i got out of it. i like jacks lyrics cuz they can means different things to different people. |

You guys forgot to mention AC/DC. anyways its obvious that this song has nothing to do with lesbians. Shes in love with the world not a girl . Its a girl who likes exploring and cheatin on her boyfriend who really doesnt care anymore except the guy shes cheatin with falls in love with her except he knows theres no point in beign in love with her because she will never feel that way for him. kind of romantic really. it would make a good heartbreaker movie eh. my big question though is why the hell does this song have the most comments posted on it out of all of theirs? |

there is a whisper in the begging i always hear it on my mp3. i downloaded the song off of telus adn theres a pretty clear whisper. people say it sounds liek "wrong suicide" or "ruined suicide". but honestly it sounds like "rolling suicide". i have no clue what that would mean. |

this is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. Jack is such an amazing singer. A lot of people haven't heard this song but i downloaded it and i just love how he captures the emotion so perfectly even though its of the other gender,. It really shows how talented this guy is. I dont think Jet is crap. I mean they have their good points and we need more rock bands in music that are seen cuz they need to drown out ashlee simpson and britney spears before they implant chips in our brains and take over the world man. those kind of people are so processed and so very fake,. even though you can tell Jet doesnt really have really meanign ful songs but you've got to admit at least they are keepin the rock spirit alive. same with AC DC they are my fav band but their songs werent meanign ful but they were fun. they made everyone rock out and put a new outlook on rock. I really like the vines i mean Craig is hot he is like practically the only one in the band that gets noticed. I have one problem with the vines though. I may be wrong but they seem kind of not that original. It just seems like what they are singing they are just singing it cuz they make a living off it. Like as if all they want to do is rock out and not actually write meaning ful songs and sing them with passion or wahtever. the song does have a little religious conent but really its about suicide. I guess it can be religious if you see Father being God but im pretty sure it was talking about the guitarists brother's suicide and how his father just sort of ignored it at some point. |

The end lyric in the song according to the cover on the inside of the CD case says its actually "And I can't fight the pain" instead of "and i just died today" but it really sounds liek hes sayign that . i like "and i just died today" better. |

this kid in my old hometown in manitoba just killed himself . my cousin found him in a barn hanging he did it cuz he was bullied. she said he went kind of crazy he was talking to himself and stuff and writing in a notebook just liek the kid in the BT video. everyone teased him...
