| The Strokes – Welcome To Japan Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I kinda think it's random ultimately, but if you want to try to put meaning to it it seems to me like it's about casual sex and an affair on a bad relationship... in Japan. Whatever it's about it's one of their best songs for me! | |

Isn't the last line "Can't wait no longer" Also I hear "Shattered now" instead of "Shut it down" |

I think the following lines should be: Everything changed and will un-change again Secrets you sleep with will not break the spell Every day's changing to remain the same LOVE this song!!! |

| Xiu Xiu – House Sparrow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Richard Chase earned the nickname "The Vampire of Sacramento" after brutally killing six people, including a child and an infant, then drank their blood and ate some of their organs. | |
| Xiu Xiu – Secret Motel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I thought it was J. S. & M, like a pun, but I don't know, either way I think it's about being partially ashamed of an awkward sexual experience and maybe an infidelity? | |

Darnielle in an interview for Pitchfork: "The song is about the conflict between what people say happens after we die and the sort of lives we live. It's kind of an angry-at-God sort of song. Because you hear of people who suffered their entire life that, once they die, now their won't have bad days, because they're with God. People say that. And you think, well, maybe God could have been more merciful and let them off the hook earlier. Brought them into this place of no suffering and eternal bliss and presence of the most high a lot earlier and saved this person a lot of unnecessary pain, instead of having them suffer their entire lives. And in the case of people who are so damaged they wind up taking their own lives, well, you'd think an all-powerful God could have prevented that. It's in the nature of being all-powerful, right? I had a specific person in mind. The song is about the sorts of hard questions that come up when somebody kills himself." |

| The Mountain Goats – Ezekiel 7 and the Permanent Efficacy of Grace Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Actually it never specifies that the tied up person is in the car, in fact the narrator states that they were together all day but that could have happened before the narrator set off on his journey. In an interview on Pitchfork John said one of the songs is about murder so it could be this one; therefore the reason someone needs to mop the floors is perhaps because someone has been killed. There's not really enough information given to understand the full scenario, but it's one of those songs that totally gets under your skin. | |

Corrections: For several days the visitors were here We saw them turned down and we watched them disappear Talked about the days they'd said were sure to come Had a hard time believing I remember seeing you my tongue struck dumb When you first came here from wherever it was you came from The power in your voice Your rough touch Open up the doors to the tent Wonder where the good times went I will do what you ask me to do Because of how I feel about you I saw his little face contract as his eyes met light Tried to imagine anything so bright You only see it once and then it steals into the dawn And then it's gone forever For several hours we lay there last ones of our kind Harder days coming maybe I don't mind Sounds kind of dumb when I say it but it's true I would do anything for you Open up the promise of the day Drive the dark things away I will do what you ask me to do Because of how I feel about you You keeping care of me Keeping watch |

I think this verse should be: I had his arms tied up behind him We were together all day Maybe make Culiacán by sunset Try to anyway I don't know entirely what this song is about but it would seem that the narrator is some kind of drug addict ("blast off" "high as the clouds now") and he is driving to Culiacán in Mexico with somebody tied up in his car. I would be interested to hear John's influence for this song. |

This is what I hear: shaking awful shaking asshole the weather remote snow fall the snowy cover we recover from love christmas time coming and over approaching we've been drinking bordeaux as christmas times go I'm coming over coming from no, you're already gone I'm wrapping up the presents I bought an overcoat take me anywhere we've suffered enough it's scary to thee and they're leaving from earth cutting us off knowing not why calling on total why do I know anyone? no, I don't know anyone I love the lyrics; they're supposed to be abstract, but they really paint a strong picture. You get such a mixture of feelings and emotions throughout the song. |

| 22-20s – Shoot Your Gun Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I just saw the 22-20s live the other day. This is my favourite track of theirs, I love it! It's full of anger and pain. One of my friends doesn't like them because he thinks they're too 'angry' and you can certainly see that in this song but I wouldn't describe them that way. I dragged 10 of my friends down to the gig and they all loved it. Half of them don't even listen to rock and have never been to a gig before! | |
| Arcade Fire – In the Backseat Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| To me it's about growing up, coping with loss and learning to survive. Beautiful. | |
| Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| To me this song is about finding comfort in someone special during a particularly traumatic event. I think there's stuff here about loss, sadness, survival and mourning. I think it's about having someone close to you who can help you in a time of need. | |
| Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| The song makes me think about something bad happening and parents hiding it from their children. It makes me think about death, neglect and loneliness. To me "light a candle for the kids" is about truth and comfort. The parents are described as being cold and so therefore the kids are looking for warmth elsewhere but are unable to take care of themselves. I can feel a lot of anger, resentment and sadness when I listen to this song and it's one of my favourites from the album. | |
