I think song has something to do, at least in part, with an argument. Two people are refusing to call each other to resolve the problem.... He's approaching the situation with common-sense saying, ok we've waited long enough... He asks her "how long is too long", but she doesn't answer because "the words might _show_" just how petty she really is. I think the first verse might have something to do with him not wanting to show how he really feels about the argument, but his words and actions give him away. |

Michel Foucault was the father of deconstructionist philsophy. I'm guessing the explorer in the song is Ernest Shackelton... he explored anarctica in a day long before polartec, GPS, and other technologies that would have made the voyage less arduous. Not sure why the two are having dinner though... I find it humorous that the explorer, are regular joe, doesn't understand the philosophy. I know that's how I felt when I first read excerpts of Foucault's philsophy. |
