What ( and how) she sings is WAY beyond an actual event. " well I agree with you, it may be something cotidian that never took place. Pretty much like devendra banhart that sings whatever if it sounds good to him, and after all thats what makes some songs great "it's silly to try and bog down the actual sort of events that Joanna is writing about; what's more important is to understand the emotions that she's writing about." Well for me In this case events lead you to understand those emotions "Do I run rare?" c'mon I gave my interpretation of insecurity feelings up there,, so I don't think its silly at all to analize those events... I mean she said there is nothing innocent in her lyrics (and that it bugs her that people say that) and well, I think this THE song in the album that pretty much shows no-innocent lyrics as how I interpret them, the events that take place are everything but childish. And the cosmo ok, make it any mag of those type, and stills make sence. of course I can be wrong, but this whole site of of songmeanings..."what does this song mean to you?" says the header, lol,, but for me there is nothing wrong with cotidianity. And again I don't think it is either "pointless to analize her songs" as gazeef said or that its silly to try to interpret some "actual" events that maybe never took place, because for me that is an important point to analize the song meaning as a whole |

To analyze joanna's lyrics is pointless?? no way!! we have to get her lyrics otherwise why the hell she works her ass off to the point of obsession for them! (ok that was a lil' over reacted but you get my point hahaha) I stick to my story: the market place encounter with a guy that 'uses' her and she ends up feeling kinda insecure after he dumped her "i have read the right books, to interpret your looks " that has to be something like Cosmopolitan magazine!! "this was unlike the story/ it was written to be/ i was riding its back/ when it used to ride me " things didn't worked as she expected...its not a fairy tale at all "now it's done/ watch it go/ you've changed some/ water ruin from the snow" She has been used by him, meaningless for him, one night stand or something, and the next paragraph is she being insecure because she doesn't knows what the hell happened am i so dear? do i run rare? you've changed some peach, plum, pear does it makes sense to you?? |

| I totally hear "whore" in the lyrics...and it can make sence considering that she talks about floozies (*A woman regarded as tawdry or sexually promiscuous.)
