ok, this song is obviously not about a dog. anthony probably just said that because he's sick of dumb girls asking who his songs are about. also, i think that this song is definately about a girl and a guy who are broken up but continue to talk to each other, and he's still in love but she's moved on and has kind of become a drunk slut, but tells him that she still loves him and leads him on making excuses for past mistakes. i'm pretty sure that that's what it's about because..it's basically about me. |

this is my absolute favorite song by dashboard, i've had the cd since i was like 10 or 11
this song just says in such perfect words how everyone acts like they are so content with their lives, but if you really look, they are just trying to grow up too fast, just rushing ahead into their lives and not enjoying their short time being youths, covering themselves in makeup, clothes, friends, parties, so that people will think they are cool and fit in, it's just fjaksdlf i love it. |

i think it is meant to be interpreted in whichever way it speaks to a person. masturbation is obviously mentioned in the song, but a relationship is also. lucky luke's thoughts on the song are very interesting too. to anyone who strictly follows what the band members say the meaning is, then you aren't listening to music for your own feelings, you're just following along with what others say. the beauty of music is that it gives each and every listener the freedom to, from personal experiences and moods at the time, interpret the song they are listening to in any way they choose. don't just go by what the artists say, music is made to have multiple meanings and the way it is interpreted by you is neither right or wrong, it is just an opinion. |

umm yes we all know nirvana fucking rules and kurt cobain was an amazing person, as are krist and dave. back to the point of the song. i don't really like it sense it pretty much made nirvana popular which lead to kurt killing himself. (i dont like spelling it Kurdt, becuase that was his stage name, and he liked himself better as a normal, anonymous person)
anyways:
Kurt was dating a girl from Bikini Kill and she used Teen Spirit deodorant to be ironic. One day, as a joke, Kurt's friends wrote "Kurt smells like teen spirit" on a wall, (hinting that he was with the girl from Bikini Kill). that's why he named this song this. granted, i think this is pretty much the only song by nirvana that I don't like...people should really listen to the more offbeat, unknown stuff if you are real fans. |
