I love the motiff he keeps coming back to of "Walk Away." For me, it's almost like each verse is a different way of using the phrase "Walk away." Whether it's marketers, broken lovers, or people at war. And then finally at the end he's ready to walk away, but he doesn't know where to yet. Brilliant. |

Maybe it's just me, but I've always seemed to connect with songs about leaving for good Almost like an existental ending to a sad, somber movie.
That's how I always thought of this song. A guy with all he needs in his bag. Maybe he's sitting on a bench waiting for a train to take him away to who the heck knows.
And I love the refrence to "Cheers Darlin," it gives a whole different angle to it. |

My favorite part is when the woman says, "Good luck," and he thanks her with such a humble and somber voice. It reminds me of the 1st song on the cd when they say, "are you ready?" "yup." Now that the experience of the cd is over and we go off on our separate ways, it's like he realizes he doesn't know what he's doing anymore, and neither do I. |

I like how it is portraying a relationship from both angles. She is still in love with him, but thinks feels underappreciated and ignored so she feels forced to end it. And he's pissed off for this, not sad and humbled like her. I think it describes how more relationships end than we realize. |

I never realized what the line "I could always change my name, if that's what you mean," meant until I felt in that situation. I think it's the reply to a statement saying he needs to change for this to work out, but that's so hard to comprehend, and way more diffictult than changing your name. Cause your name doesn't make up who you are, and changing who you are isn't easy. |

I love this song so much. I think it's just describing what it is like for this kid to be growing up in this town and how much he loved life. "And then one day, the stars fell in" and they end up all dying in a car crash. Then we realize why a dream lies beneath the snow... |

I think this is one of the most comlpex songs on the cd. And I can't believe more people can't get into his music. Anyway, I think this song is about taking whatever comes your way. In each verse, a short story is described about a future that is much different than the one expected. It's all done sort of optamistically, like, "oh well, it's not what I expected, but it'll do." Until the last line when he says, "here's to the future that was fine." Like, "why couldn't things just go the way they were planned? It would make things alot simpler."
I love how the 1st verse depicts the state of the world today. If Jesus came back tomorrow, yeah we would all want to be saved, but no one would really want to quit what they were doing. It's very much an ignorant paradox. |
