| this has nothing to do with Garcia dying....The dead performed this song for at least 4 years before its release on "In the Dark"...in 1987...a good 8 years before he died....Also for those that don't Know Garcia doesn't usually contribute the lyrics....That's Robert Hunter's job....though Garcia did contribute the line..."Light a candle, curse the glare" | |

The last verse refers to the shape of country music radio these days...stating it has "no soul"...which I agree with.. "they sound tired but they don't sound haggard"....refers to Merle Haggard "they got money but they don't have cash"...refers to Johnny Cash "They got junior but they don't have Hank"...Refers to Hank Williams Sr....... A brilliant country song and Great comentary also.... |
