| Polly Scattergood – Please don't touch Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yeh its more about being uncomfortable, plenty of people like that. Please don't touch..... says a lot. 'Feeling strange and looking rotten'... please don't touch. 'Fickle like a fruit machine', ' it makes me jitter' Quite an open song about her trust issues and for females in general. makes sense. Sadness in the air, i think means this is not the time sometimes women just get too much attention. |

| Polly Scattergood – Unforgiving Arms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
At first it sounds like a typically insecure woman singin, but his is good stuff. The rest of the album, Other Too Endless, Bunny Club and Nitrogen Pink really have a lot to offer. This song tho, really is nice. Someone with too much pride, not knowing ho0w to respond to loss. A difficult situation for any one. |

| Bright Eyes – Trees Get Wheeled Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Nice song, was on the David LEtterman show (youtube it) and the noisefloor album. I love how futile the whole song seems.... so it goes |

| Joanna Newsom – Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just read that Cowrie was an ancient seashell currency. Now to match up clam, crab, cockle and cowrie into some universal theory of everything? Maybe she finds beauty in the sea and its animals and cowrie is so precious it has another value like money associated to it? |

| Brand New – I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I've never felt so hollow I'm an old abandoned church with broken pews and empty aisles Isn't that brilliant, just the perfect way to say you're lost. Think the sound is a bit too pop like, if this went more acoustic/alternative then onto a real winner. |

| Morrissey – The Edges Are No Longer Parallel Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Morrissey – I'd Love To Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Bright Eyes – Southern State Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think its all about his new romance with a new love, got trapped a few days into a new tour. he realises its not workin out, in towns and bars and noone knows who he is and but everyone pretends to fit in otgether. he feels alone, needs some friends. Talks to a friend try's to explain love but realises how inept he is at it. The friend is slowly losing grip with his new love, drinking etc... and the main man questions his friends ideas on love. |
| Morrissey – Sister I'm A Poet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Basicaly, hopefully, It means that singer once could have been a nobody in this town. Now realising his worth he realises the true nature of his town. Not much to it but a great song!!!! especially live in Hulmerist where the stage crashing is endless! |
| Morrissey – Disappointed Lyrics | 20 years ago |
'Each bud must blossom and grow', the best line to the song. Firstly, male friends who's fucked on drugs, young boy 'see these lines' truly dissapointed, could mean lines like wrinkles and lines of drugs.......... Nice might mean dealers who have been described as nice cos there ok but really are scum......moz's own interpretation of it is that people who are nice aren't really... life in ruins, bored with the deal etc.... Hes involved with a young 'un but she's young and it's more about his age and perspective i think. Not about anything like young girls but more about his age associated with it all. |
| Peter Doherty – I Love You (But You're Green) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Surely the best Doherty song yet to be officially realeased at all! This man continues to write quality songs where everything around him seems to fail i mean "it's only blood from broken hearts that writes the words to every song". Pete, Love. |
| Elliott Smith – No Name #6 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I dont know but i think it's elliott talking about someone who's very positively trying to be happy but knows they're a failure really. And this time we can't lose is about how they choose not to see it. | |
| Ryan Adams – Sweet Illusions Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Heatmiser – Plainclothes Man Lyrics | 20 years ago |
to me this sounds like the love for an ex-girlfriend that Elliott now despises. And since or has always had other difficulties to go aliong with her. She's always there 'over by the westside rails' but he doesnt really need her and relies more on the alcohol. He wishes to be an ordinary persion i.e. the 'plainclothes man' and is envious of such a position. Thats why he calls him 'you little bastard, little boy in blue'. and the perfect moment in a flash of light shows how it was great for those brief moments of time, like when you look at a picture and only see how happy everyone is without the true background to what is really happening. Plus he has lost the love, hence he says that people think that he'll ' recover my love of her once in a while'. showing again that the picture doesnt portray everything that is really happening and he basically saying that he doesnt think so and that its over. my 2 pennies anyway. |

| welles-radio.......Dont you kmow what, imagery and metaphor's are!!!!! | |
| Elliott Smith – Everything Reminds Me of Her Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ok, wise ass. this is my interpretation, be objective or be nothing! the words 'i think' scatter my comments, i notice that yours do not. I thought this site was about interpretation and thought, not persistent crap about what should be and what isn't. Argue your case via an interpretation, or a 'moromic'(sic) "It's about a girl" basis. dont devalue the site with your blinkered views! |

| Elliott Smith – Ballad of Big Nothing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Throwing candy to the crowd is probably dealing everybody there fix, and the second candy is version of getting his own fix. And basically saying that whatever your fix is then get off on it, theres no one to stop you..... and that at the end of the day whatever you want ultimately means nothing, except to you that is. | |
| Elliott Smith – Everything Reminds Me of Her Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ok, the sun represents either her or drugs. These line show that. "The spin of the earth impaled a silhouette of the sun on the steeple And I got to hear the same sermon all the time now from you people" and the use of sermon and steeple convey some kind of religious context . It may just be an extention of the sun but its a worship all the same. "sermon....from you people" is an odd line that would certainly pertain to be about drugs, i mean why would people get on at him about losing a lover, surely they would be sympathetic if anything? This could maybe be about how drug use ended the relationship, hence the lectures...... She/drugs is the sun and it's been blocked out by the earth, i.e. he can't see the sun anymore because his world has been turned around from the normal perception. "Why are you staring into outer space, crying? Just because you came across it, and lost it" and he's staring into outer space, crying because he can't see the sun (drugs/her) anymore. |

| Elliott Smith – Angel in the Snow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
it's very ambiguous in it's imagery. it could be drugs or love. Either one, the snow represents the purity of it all. "i'd say you make a perfect angel in the snow all crushed out on the way you are better stop before it goes too far " either he's in love with a girl who has a massive crush on him and he doesn't want to hurt her through his inadequacy/shortcomings or he's enamoured with drugs and the way they are all crushed up and he doesn't want to take it too far. and "sometimes i feel like only a cold still life that fell down here to lay beside you " Inadequacie's/shortcomings comes into play again here. He doesn't know how to respond in the face of the situation, he freezes, be it through the fear of love and failure and what it could do to him or drugs and the consequences that they entail. Either way, he wishes to be a part of the purity of the freezing cold and its simple ways. He wishes he were a part of it so that he could simply lay down and become whatever it is that affects him so greatly. It's really all about something you love but you cant deal with, be it drugs or love. It could be either depending on your viewpoint. A wonderful simple and sweet song. thx Elliott |
