Dance Gavin Dance – I'm Down With Brown Town Lyrics 16 years ago
brown town was always a slang reference (at least in southern cali) for being under the influence of heroin. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the meaning. but i doubt Johnny Craig is a junkie.

All I know is that when he says "619 from the Southtown" hes talking about the six-one-nine area code which is located in the southern communities of San Diego. Happens to be my area code.

Blink-182 – Aliens Exist Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about Marijuana.

Call me crazy but think about it next time you listen to it,
and the whole thing could be a metaphor.

"we all know conspiracies are dumb"

even the chorus.

if you listen closely in the chorus
she is really saying:
"buttfuck your face"

Underoath – Everyone Looks So Good From Here Lyrics 18 years ago
as incongruent as it is, it sounds like this song could be alluded to the art of astral projection or OBE for the scientifically correct term

Jimmy Eat World – Futures Lyrics 19 years ago
whats all this talk about "bush" and "canada" And the "us". This song is just supposed to be optimistic. And thinking "Tomorrow will be better"

Jimmy Eat World are under no circumstances political (at least i haven't seen any political music). And im my opinion this song is being optimistic and fatalistic about life, and living in the moment.

Very obvious

Yeah i agree with Chicken.

Tool – Jambi Lyrics 19 years ago
Dude u guys are digging WAAAAAAAAAAY too fucking deep.

I think it has to do with a symbol losing authority because of what a higher authority wants out of greed. Basically i think its a bout political battle within a country. Democrats Vs. Republicans; Conservative Vs. Labor; Christians vs Atheists.

It has a point that even though power will be lost they still have the poeple behind him "Shine on forever". FOr some reason the song meaning of political battle jumps at me.

Maybe if you look towards that direction it will jump at you too. But, usually Tool isn't that political (thats APC's job) This also could be just a love song similar to Schism. Who Knows? Maynard does.

We all should have opinions about this song. Maynard wants us to have opinions about all their songs.

Keep this post in mind

Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics 19 years ago
Honestly I think ALL tool songs have a broad spectrum of meanings. This one is no different.

This song for me is almost inrtropsective bc it has me thinking of what i might do to my children (when/if i have some) or other people because of what others have done to me. I have been abused twice outta my fathers own insanity towards his actions!

What I think maynard is trying to express here is that Abuse of any sorts (family, sexual, religious, blackmail) always gets inflicted on other people and that its a way of revenge for the original victimisers actions.

As for "this one holy medium" its simply a metaphor. It feels apart of the victimiser and it cuts between two people. Therfore its a "holy medium".

And when he says "i've come round, full circle" it means hes done the abuse and it is coming back at him in another form. For example he gets abused, so he abuses, where he gets in trouble, and goes to prison and gets raped. Its also known as the "vicious cycle"

This song to me is very clear. Its just about Child abuse. Maynard didn't want it to be seen as THAT explicit; even though corporate fags like MTV and RIAA decided to use that against them

AFI – Rabbits Are Roadkill on Route 37 Lyrics 19 years ago
Well this song is pretty simple to understand

AS the first man says, Rabbits are a zodiac symbol that do not reincarnate. Davey's Zodiac Symbol is a rabbit.

Route 37 (forget the 337 thingy, its all B.S.), is probably a highway around where davey lives, and he may occaisionally hit (or see) some rabbits as roadkill.

Basically he feels sorrow and regret and gets reminded that these poor animals have no after life.

Very simple, Lyrics = easy to interpret, no point here. Just very depressed.

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 19 years ago
Jesus!? Honestly this song has a meaning to everybody and this song makes me think of the Third Reich and the Holocaust, as does the video.

After Nazi Germany (or Socialist Germany for all you scioeconomic studiers :P) surrendered to Russia, England, and the US, Hitler commit suicide and left the whole nation of Germany divided without an actual cause. Maybe Its discussing Hitler's death as the continuation of a legacy.

Miss Murder = Mother RUssia, Beauty = Communism, you add it all together and you see that by discussing more than one factor in one issue, you will get a better answer.

The Video might have to do with Hitler and Eva Braun. Lol whatever. Im not nazi, im just a good historian.

Tool – Lateralus Lyrics 19 years ago
This song to me clearly represents two things that Tool have been portraying in Aenima and Lateralus:

1. Astral Projection
2. Third Eye opening

Ever since Paul D'amour left tool has been really spiritual Lol.

Okay first the main thing of astral projection is to have your mind wide awake and keep your body fast asleep so that the mind can separate from the body. "Over thinking, over analyzing, separate the body from the mind " This is an actual method (not a good one) used for astral travel. It keeps your mind fully active. And what he means by the next line is that he has to forget about the future and past and focus on now to get through. Its basically a message to all Astral Travelers

The whole "I embrace my..." is how desperate people are to get out. and how they will do anything to get out.

The rest of the song is a method to open your third eye. you try to get energy from the earth or the moon into your chakra, and how does he do this? By "Reaching up and reaching out!". this same thing could also be used as an astral projection method where you try to hurl yourself out.
But for the most part this whole song is about astral projection. You feel like you are spinning when approaching exit, so to swing on the spiral would make sense.

To climb the spiral to the end is to not let the vertigo interfere with your body and lose trying to get out basically. And to go where nobody's been is to finnally spiral out and keep going into the astral.

This song as well as Parabol/Parabola are both about Astral Projection, it seems as though maynard has mastered the art. :) for those of you traveling, meet him lol

The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics 19 years ago
This song really touched me and As many ppl said on the very first page. Every person has a different meaning. Which puts this song definitely on anybody's top ten (if only i could sing it -_-).

I made some real mistakes through middle school and high school. My parents would get really mad at me and, one time, my dad lashed out at me. Sometimes, I contemplated the pros of suicide. But, I never really had the guts to kill myself though.

This song touches me in such a spot and basically it is a scream to my parents, "Hey I chose what i did, legal or not, and you may want to kill me, but it happened"

So yeah this song sums up my teenage years.

Damn people, right when I heard the beginning to this song i just screamed in my head: "Korn!"

This new album Chapter V has a lot of influences, and Korn is a big one for this song. Anti-christian messages, hard guitar.

lol Damn it sucks that Brian left Korn though, who has found his cross to bear.

Dredg – Hung Over on a Tuesday Lyrics 20 years ago
rhavin has got it. :)

It is about alcoholism. ANd I have been reading the book "John Barleycorn" by Jack London (excellent book about alcoholism), which made me understand exactly what this song was about right when I heard all the lyrics.

Its about relapse (the monday) and having to suffer the consequences a little bit later (the hangover/tuesday).

But somehow the lyrics are vague especially the last couple of lyrics. But the whole album to me has a connection to Alcoholism (bug eyes sound a lot like it to me). Great song, great album, great band \m/

Dredg – Ode to the Sun Lyrics 20 years ago
Don't forget the song is called "Ode to the sun". The one thing that can throw off a song is the title.

This song is very vague in its song meaning but I think this whole album Alcoholism. Examples: This one is about the deaths and depression caused on other people with alcoholics, Bug Eyes is about being clean and about ready to relapse, Catch Without Arms is about alcohol draining your money, etc.

Its just an idea. This is one of the best songs on the album and it has touched me so whoever claims this song sucks honestly has no reason to support his conclusion.

This song is awesome, and it is up to the listener to decide the meaning. Yes the lyrics in the book throw you off a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I jsut downloaded this song off of Limewire, and all I can say is friking a. This song should have appeared on the album.

I don't think those bells are suppose to represent tinnitus. They are really stupid.

It sounds like to me Vismund is some sort of a survivor of a ship wreck and that his mother had him on this ship, and didn't wnat him, so she tried to drown him/something, and it failed, he survived and I guess became adopted by somebody who picked him up.

The White Stripes – Blue Orchid Lyrics 20 years ago
I actually have to disagree with most of your comments. I will predict this new album of theirs to be a concept album.

When I first heard the lyrics, I thought about witchcraft and a couple.

This guy has a gf and she is doing witchcraft, and he is attempting, but not succesfully. "You GOt A reaction, didn't you!?" is the guy trying to make the girl; performing witchcraft ashamed.

"You took a white orchid turned it blue", is an example of her witchcraft.

"How dare you?" sounds kind of like "I will dare you" witch the guy is attempting witchcraft.

"Something's better than nothing, it's givin' up" is an example of how the guy is trying to have the girl stop by thinking the guy is better than him.

How old you now anyway? is an example of how she could be hundreds of years old in a (fill young age here)'s old body.

Get behind me!Get behind me now anyway! is how this guy wants to be better at witchcraft than the girl.

and "Get behind me Satan" is how witchcraft is supposedly the art of the devil, this guy is saying to this girl (ie satan in the title) "I am better than you, I will acheive witchcraft better than you."

Hope this helps!

WHY the fuck is it called Evil? I knida know what it is about, although it isn't so "Evil". It should be called "Rosemary" or "Lifespan without a Cellmate" or "The Long Way Back". It just doesn't really make any sense why the song is called Evil.
