this is totally a vietnam protest song. this album came out in 1968. but i think it was more like all the other artists were protesting so the doors did too. at that time the doors were almost bubblegum. they were not meanful, thought provoking musicians until after jim died and became a legend. they embodied sex and drugs and an escape from the era. it was all for fun.
also, to PB1, I don't know if this is really a good place to get your information. no one here is really qualified or informed, we are just making speculations. i doubt you can use this site as a reliable source, unless you are doing the report purely on culture, and the people's views of the doors. |

maybe it's like jim is trying to escape the harshness of reality and fame. drugs give him a break (deliver him) from the bright lights of the stage, everyone wanting something from him. it's an escape. |

I think this song might be somewhat about musicians and how they put themselves out there, ride the storm, make it through the trials and tribulations, become idols, get their message across. They are born to make music no matter who gets in their way. |

anything you get from the movie really has nothing to do with the doors reality. it was trippy and interesting, but it wasn't who they really were. and this song is about a black girl he saw walking down the boardwalk. he never talked to her, she simply inspired a fun song with her beauty. |
