| Snow Patrol – Open Your Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The line, "I won't waste a minute without you" is clever because it could mean 'I won't waste a minute of my life, by spending it without you with me' or, in contrast 'i wont waste a minute of life without you, because life without you is so good.' |

| AFI – Death of Seasons Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
jaymatthew, although we may not be able to understand the "language of master havok". its still good to try. I'm sure when he was writing it he didn't think, "I'm gonna try and make it really hard to understand so no one other than me will know what it means or even begin to think about it" I think if he intended to do that he would just scream in each song and he would know what it meant but no one else would. He obviously meant to intrigue fans, so that they could decode the message themselves. If you would prefer a more Backstreet Boys approach where they say exactly what they think then i dont think AFI is your band. also, this is a song meaning site, where people find out the meanings of songs (hence the name) (and yes i am aware your post is like 2 years old and you will never read this) oh, and the mongolians speak mongolian |

| AFI – Miseria Cantare: The Beginning Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
NOT MY IDEA, i didnt come up with it, but... some guy (in another song forum) reckons the album's backwards starting at This Time Imperfect and ending with this song, Miseria Cantare: The Song of the Sorrow. (the only modification is putting the Leaving Song Part II directly after Part I) The story goes, the character is depressed, attempts suicide, fails, hates life, remembers back to when he was a musician (This Celluloid Dream), is even more depressed, realises that God doesn't exist (The Great Disappoinment), feels really alone, commits suicide, explores pergatory, finds God actually did exist and, as a result, finds his place in hell. Long story short, Miseria Cantare is hell. The actual Song of the Sorrow is the chants of: "Love your hate, your faith lost You are now one of us Love your hate, your faith lost You are now one, one of us" and they are speaking to the character telling him he will now eternally suffer for his loss of faith. ...i thought it was pretty cool... |

| Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
also, whoever was saying before that this song isnt sad, thats its about getting over suicide, youre stupid. it has a minor chord progression (meaning the music sounds sad) the lyrics are very sad too.(bar the last few lines, which mark added about him and the band) the sadness is so obvious im not gonna even quote. finally, if you listen to The Enema Strikes Back (Mark Tom n Travis Show), between all the songs mark and tom make several jokes (references to sex, mainly). Notice that before he plays adam's song, mark tell the fans to "wipe their shit-eating grins off their faces coz" (NOTICE THE NEXT BIT)"this songs a SAD one" and after the song you may also noticed that mark merely says "thankyou" before falling quiet and all tom says is for the crowd to say fuck with him. if this was a truly happy song, i doubt this would occur |

| The Living End – Uncle Harry Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
hahaha yeah good call wayne, chris is a fucking champ at singing and a freak at guitar. saw these guys live, they rock hard. yeah its pretty self explainatory: about uncle harry whos a piss head (get it, PISS head) and has no life. it sounds like a sorta pub anthem. i could imagine everyone in a pub yelling UNCLE HARRY PISSIN IN THA BAAAAAATH (maybe it's coz it starts with background sounds of a pub) |

| The Living End – Trapped Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
bout pauline hanson (one nation leader - of australia) being trapped in a room coz if she went out shed get pelted with tomatoes (if your not australian, its because she makes very racist comments). chris was taking the piss when he said "im not sure if we'll make it out of here alive" haha love that guy |
|
| The Living End – Monday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| fuck a duck. i used to get up on a monday morning and play this song while i had a shower yelling it with joy. like it was kinda ironic "its monday and im pissed off coz i have to go to school but im gonna be happy" now its just fucking depressing | |
| The Living End – Hold Up Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| fucking awsome song. yeah its pretty obviously about robbing banks, when i saw em live chris said "this is for all you robbers out there". these guys rock so fucking hard its incredible | |
| Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| _julie have a fucking snap. the reason for the same lyrics MAY be because adam was influenced by blink AND nirvana, using some of nirvana's lyrics to discribe how he felt when sent blink a letter saying how he wanted to end his life. so just calm the fuck down. | |
| Box Car Racer – Elevator Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| sorry but rawkerchic182 two your an idiot. this site is called SONGMEANINGS.net (key words: SONG; MEANINGS) i deduced from this that the site is for figuring out the meanings of songs (just guessing) so thats why everyone heres trying to figure out the meaning of songs | |
| Box Car Racer – All Systems Go Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
bassist83086 you are a retard. sorry, but think about it. considering box car (boxcar) racer has only ONE album, how can you be a fan BEFORE buying the (one and only) album? you claimed "real fans" bought the CD, what fans? they didnt have any before this album because they didnt exist! and meatspoon, you think that its terrible box car racer is compaired to blink? that was inevitble and im sure tom and travis knew it when they made the band. considering 2/3 of the members (3/3 in elevator) ar from blink, who the fuck else are they gonna sound like? and meatspoon |

| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
it is true about the reverse part of the song. go to: http://www3.telus.net/jefmil/stairwaybackwards.htm its all fucking true. the thing, however is that, back in "the day" (of led zepplin that is) rock music was considered evil and of the devil. authorities of many churches purchased records of the latest and most popular bands to try and find "hidden messages" in the music to use against the bands. This said, it is true that the lyrics in this particular part of the song are very random: "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May Queen Yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on" and the message (oh here's to my sweet satan, the one who's little path would make me sad, who's power is satan, he'll give you, give you 666, there was a little toolshed where you made us suffer sad satan.) is a little bit too clear for it to be a fluke. i dunno, there are the facts, you make the decision. |

| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i can see where your coming from when you hate two things but one of them agrees with you on your hate for the other. wierd. but i like your point about how eminem says he is anti bush but is practically his fucking son. nice. | |
| AFI – The Leaving Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
in terms of synthesia bassists theory of "the killer and the killed" thinking about this, it makes alot of sense. but then again thats just taking the item of death in general and considering alot of afi's lyrics are very dark, the fact that they may coincide with the idea of death is probable. Also the fact that (as said in another forum by someone else - dont know who) davey's lyrics are very vague, allowing you to interperet them however you like (an attribute) thus meaning it could be about anything. i will keep your theory in mind though, its an interesting one. |
|
| AFI – The Leaving Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i assumed "staring at the cracks" was a referance to looking at cracks in the ground all the time. (because his head is down due to disgrace) | |
| AFI – The Leaving Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
id have to take big berto's theory and reverse it. i think this is about the fact that the person (davey) hasnt changed. "poison hearts never change" implies that he has always been evil, and nothing has changed. he walked away, hearing "them" say that he hasnt changed and he turns away in disgrace, embarressed that they think hes the same "poison heart" as he used to be. Im not certain (although of Sing the Sorrow, this would have to be the most straight foward song lyrically). I also think people are thinking too much about the reason leaving song was put after leaving song II. As a musician, i know in choosing the oreder of an album, you order it so that it is a good mix, not too many of one type of song in one place. so there isnt 4 songs with dominant basslines then 5 songs with fast guitar riffs then 3 songs of davey yelling. its about whats gonna make the album the best it can be, so that someone can listen to it from start to finish without having to change to a different band halfway....Or maybe they were trying to tell a story.... no idea |
|
| AFI – Girl's Not Grey Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| as for the reason its called "girls not grey" i have no idea. but then again, i have no idea how any of the names of the songs on this album relate to the song lyrically, maybe its because of all the symbolism and metaphors? | |
| Alkaline Trio – Stupid Kid Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i think this is great "i was just a stupid kid back then, i take back every word that i said" this is so true because you may have thought you loved someone and they meant everything to you then you realised you were really just a stupid kid. i think if you realise you didnt actually love them its okay to take it back. my friend just broke up with her boyfriend (also my friend) because she realised she didnt love him anymore but she still admits that she did at some point before. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Jungle Man Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yeah its AK's tribute to flea (says in Scar Tissue) | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Tearjerker Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| okay to clear it all up. it is bout kurt cobain, read "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Kiedis. and John Frusciante is a fucking awsome guitarist. Great man, fucking mad improv. he was influenced by hillel who was influenced by jimi hendrix. (both awsome guitarists) until you have watched ALL of live at slane and listened to ALL of Hyde Park you cannot judge. | |
| AFI – Miseria Cantare: The Beginning Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| dunno if you have heard but apparently Davey's the rabbit in chinese mythology. Apparently the rabbit is the only animal unable to reincarnate. Some say this is why he sings "nothing from nowhere im no one at all" because he knows when he dies, hes gone for good.... just a thought | |
| AFI – Bleed Black Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
ive read most of the quotes (including fallchild's long one, thanks, that was helpful) and i think there's alot of ideas out there. Not positive, but i got Clandestine and watched it a few times. I noticed a few links in the movie to song names on Sing the Sorrow. (including, Girl's Not Grey (the girl who kisses davey is wearing grey); this celluloid dream (the part when Jade is searching through the drawers is kinda dodgy camera work so i kinda associated as a long shot); bleed black (as mentioned before, the bath of black liquid); silver and cold (the keys opening the door) and, finally, The Great Disapointment (as the box is opened and you dont know what is inside) (Also death of seasons: represented by trees/leaves apparent throughout)). Although this leaves 7 songs unnacounted for, i thought the sequence of them in the video may have something to do with the intended sequence of the album. Any idea where the other 7 songs go? |
