Compare this one with "I Walk Alone" on the Pinhead Gunpowder page |
Pinhead Gunpowder – I Walk Alone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Another great song from Billie Joe that expresses the isolation that ADHD sometimes causes. Very similar sentiment to Green Day's "Walking Alone". |
Green Day – Coming Clean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
OK, I have NO life, because I am replying to a three-year-old query (from a person who signed on ONCE), which must be from the UK: 1000Hours writes, "ok, where is 'Winchell's'? because if you look in the lyrics book for dookie, under the coming clean lyrics it says 'TUESDAY NIGHT AT WINCHELL'S!!!', and under the emenius sleepus lyrics theres a spily winchell's cup and a doughnut. Winchell's is a USA-wide chain of cheap doughnut shops. Cops are famous for hanging out at them. There's a popular sticker here, shaped like a police badge, that says, "Bad Cop, No Donut" (you can buy it at www.donnellycolt.com). When somebody thinks they need a cop they say, "Quick, call Winchell's!", cause that's where the cops are, not at the station. I dunno why it's mentioned in the "Dookie" book. |
Green Day – 1,000 Hours Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This exchange is from the recent "Ker-rang" interview: QUESTION: "Billie, what Green Day song embarrasses you the most, or do you loathe the most?" ANSWER: "I would say the song, 'A 1000 Hours' because not only was it not for a band to play or to play as a band, it's just the sappiest song about a girl to the point where it's like a bad John Hughes movie". (You can google "John Hughes movies" if you don't know what he's talking about.) |
Green Day – Favorite Son Lyrics | 19 years ago |
ArianeTheFool wrote, "I was a little confused by the line "He's a sex machine." Is that just there to confuse people?" I think it's because of the rumors of the need for a least one of GW's girlfriends' abortions (all arranged by daddy Bush, of course) back in the day to keep the Bush name "unsullied". Google it if you want to know more. |
Green Day – Fashion Victim Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In an interview (sorry, I don't have the URL) Billie said he wrote this after he saw a girl wearing a t-shirt that said, "Gianni Versace, #1 Fashion Victim" (if you recall the designer was murdered by his stalker in the late 1990s). The lyrics are ok and kind of clever, but in some ways as shallow as what it's complaining about. I am not a fan of the anorxic line. I think Billie doesn't know what a serious health problem eating disorders are. I may be a bit sensitive as a 19-year-old family member died of bulimia. |
Green Day – Church on Sunday Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Jesus H. Fucking Christ, Billie isn't jewish. Some of you go off on the most bizarre tangents at times. As to the meaning, here it is from the horse's mouth: In a NY Rock interview from 2000 Billie says, "Church on Sunday deals with compromises in the relationship I have with my wife. You have to compromise in every relationship. If you want it to work out you've always got to look ahead, have a future in front of your eyes and work on your relationships, no matter if they're with your partner or with friends. There will always be problems, but you've got to find solutions, or at least try to find solutions. I really hope there is a solution for every problem". Here's the URL if you want to read the whole thing. http://www.nyrock.com/interviews/2000/gd_int2.htm |
The Rolling Stones – Street Fighting Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The actual lyric is "kill the queen" and man, this was so written before the Brixton riots, etc. There's PLENTY for a "street fighting man" to do in London these days. |
Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Thanks for the quote blind rockstar. And I loved the vid too. |
Rage Against the Machine – Street Fighting Man (The Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yes, it is a Stones' cover, minus all the lyrics about "kill(ing) the queen and all her ministers", which is why when Mick got his knighthood (man, was Keith disgusted with that) it was presented by her idiot son, charles, not the queen, who really knows how to hold a grudge. Stupid bitch. She's not even english. |

The Rolling Stones – Sway Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh god, I love this one, even if keith's contribution was limited to backing vocals. Mick Taylor really brought something to the Stones, something way different that the usual. He was just a brilliant guitarist. But I can't help thinking that the Stones would have broken up if Taylor had stayed, so it was best that he left. But we've got this, Moonlight Mile and a few others to remember him by. As to the meaning, I think everyone has been to a real low point, but not all of us recognize life's simple pleasures in time to pull us out of depression. The song starts with Mick's oh-so-jaded, "One, two, three, four", but winds up with a beautiful ending. What a great example to get through life. I can't help thinking (with a laugh) that this deeply romantic song would have been brilliant used as a theme for David Boreanaz' character on "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" or on its spin off "Angel". A missed opportunity if you ask me. "Demon life" indeed! |
Green Day – Blood, Sex and Booze Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I LOVE the intro. I always turn it up loud. It's so funny when Billie goes, "SHIT!", like he's surprised Mistress Simone really hit him. |
Green Day – Worry Rock Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Billie Joe can sure write great lyrics. This song takes you places. |

Green Day – Scattered Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. I love how Green Day can make you love a song. They can skate right up to the edge of corny and then make it beautiful. I get sucked right in every time with these guys. I realize Green Day's become an important part of my life. |

I love Billie on the harmonica in this one. He should play it more. Great song. |
Queen – We Are The Champions Lyrics | 19 years ago |
God, no wonder Green Day does a cover of this in each of their shows. I love it. |
Green Day – 80 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
80's name is spelt "Adrienne", not "Adriene". It's tattooed on billie's right forearm. You can see it clearly in the "Waiting" video. I hope 80 & bj's relationship is pain free and wonderful. And arbuckle, who are you talking to? |
Green Day – At the Library Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I LOVE this song. When I heard 17-year-old Billie singing the lines: "Hey there lookin' at me Tell me what do you see" I can't quite describe what happened to me, but I was a goner. Drank the kool-aide. Got the tattoo. Billie sure knows how to pull the pin on your heart. And I sure know how to let him. |
Green Day – Why Do You Want Him? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Come on people, billie's bi and a cross-dresser, two of the elements that make him totally hawt. Why are you in denial, he isn't! Stop trying to make him "acceptable"! And unlike his straight bandmates he's managed to stay married to 80 for more than 10 years and have two kids with one partner. |
Green Day – Knowledge (Operation Ivy cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
bj was one of 4 songwriters on this one. |
Green Day – Macy's Day Parade Lyrics | 19 years ago |
bj & 80 have two kids (Joseph & Jacob) not 3. |
Country Joe McDonald – I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die-Rag Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is still the best anti-war song & the best live-performance song from one of the best 60's tour bands ever (tied with the Who). Believe me, I'm 57 and I was there. I taught this to my teen-age kids (substituting "Afganistan" for "Vietnam") in late 2001 during THAT invasion. When I'm not listening to Green Day or Chili Peppers, I slip this one on the turntable for a blast from the past that still thrills. Get the live version. |
Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Billie said in an interview that this song is about his father's death, and I've got no reason to disbelieve him. The song was written in 2003 so the "20 years" makes sense because BJ was 10 when his dad died. The "seven years" is a mystery and one I bet BJ keeps that way. He's very open about his feelings but often tight-lipped on the factual details. |
Green Day – King for a Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In case you've missed it, buy a copy of International Superhits!, the photo under the disc is of bj in a dress with the most wonderful expression on his face! God I love Billie. Every bi cross-dressing inch of him. The VH1 Ultimate Albums also has a VERY quick shot of bj in fishnets! Swoon! |

Just noting that bj grew up on Longview Blvd in Rodeo, CA |
The Rolling Stones – Torn and Frayed Lyrics | 19 years ago |
mick wrote this about keith and heroin. mick saved keith's life. keith would be dead now if mick hadn't set aside everything to pull his friend out of his addiction, even though keith fought him every step of the way. Mick & keith are my favorite love story. |
The Rolling Stones – We Love You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This was a thank you to the public and the press for their overwhelming support after Mick & Keith's arrests for drugs. |
The Rolling Stones – Moonlight Mile Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming The song is about being on the road and masterbating while thinking about your girl back home, rather than dragging a skanky ho back to one's hotel room. Seriously romantic and OMFG, Mick's "sound effects" are priceless! I sure do love the Stones. I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming I'm riding down your moonlight mile There I go now coming home now baby Yeah, there I go now coming home now baby |
The Rolling Stones – Rocks Off Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is yet another song about Mick's gay sex experiences. Confused yet romantic and as it's Mick, always enthusiastic! Feel so hypnotized, can't describe the scene. Feel so mesmerized all that inside me. |
The Rolling Stones – Moonlight Mile Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is about being on the road and masterbating while thinking of your girl back home instead of dragging some skanky ho back to your hotel room. Way romantic! Mick's ah, sound effects are just priceless! As masterbation songs go, even better than Green Day's "All By Myself" and "Longview". I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming I'm riding down your moonlight mile I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming I'm riding down your moonlight mile There I go now coming home now baby Yeah, there I go now coming home now baby |
Green Day – All by Myself Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No one can best Green Day at masterbation songs, but the Stones give them a run for their money in "Moonlight Mile" (from the album "Sticky Fingers"), sooooooo romantic! |
