not to say u guys are wrong cause a song can mean watever u want it to but i read this as an apology to friends that he left behind wen he entered the music scene. it starts out: "Oh with strangers to impress so near Old friends don't realize I'm here" while he's tryin to impress 'strangers' eg. record label execs. or watever he ignores his 'old friends' then: Change your mind tonight You belong to the city now And you're closer now I know "You belong on the radio..." mite be him expressing that he doesnt hav control over wat he does because of his obligations to music. then: I swear I'll give it back tomorrow But for now I think that I'll just borrow All the words from that song And all the chords from that other song I heard yesterday music means less to him than it used when he still had friends so he 'borrows' from songs dues to lack of originality finally: I will not disturb you I was just returning you A compliment julian doesnt wanna interfere with them cause he knows his friends are gone so he return the 'compliment' of friendship with this song wat ya think? |

shadowsoal is pretty spot on i think. especially about the part where its written to someone not by someone. i think the situation could be as follows : the person that wrote the song is possibly in love with the girl but he is singing to her boyfriend saying how lucky he is "And she can hardly breathe without you " but how stupid he is being "Or lie to yourself And see it all dissolve around you" wat ya think? |
