Mayne, the second verse is hot. It flows so well. My only gripe is that the bridge is a little slow.
It's strange how the jolting riff really contrasts with the self-defeating lyric. I kinda like it. The riff makes me want to jump up and do something, but the lyrics make me want to stay put. |

This song is all about low self-esteem. Goodness, the words speak to me so loudly. It explains everything that I'm feeling right now. Especially the part where he says "all the demons in my head won't leave me, I know, I can hear them."
The sad part is, people aren't aware of my low self-esteem at all. They think I'm actually... normal. |

This song brings tears to my eyes. When I finally moved out from the hellhole that I lived in to a college out of state, things looked up so much. Not that there weren't challenges, but there was hope for the first time. |

I love this song. I don't care that it's mainstream. I just like it. If you don't like the fact that people like this song, go call someone who actually gives a shit. |

Wow, I can really relate to this song right here. You build up these barriers, you build them so tall and so strong, but deep inside you know that the right person can just tip it over with their finger. I tend to shy away from human affection, because of some dumb drama in the past, but deep inside I want to fly a special girl "to the moon and back," metaphorically speaking. |

This and the disappeared are my favorite songs on the newest album... but not by much... because I love all the other songs on it too. Seriously, this guy is a musical genius and more people should listen to him. I'm not easily impressed when it comes to indie music, but this guy is amazing.
This guy recorded this whole album by himself by the age of 22, and it sounds like a professionally done album in some expensive studio. He's just 22 and I'd already put him up to the level of Robert Plant, John Lennon, and Kurt Cobain. |

You know you're an American Idiot when you only like a band when they first start out, but start to loathe them primarily because they're becoming really popular. That's so stupid. Why does it matter? If Beethoven's Midnight Sonata was an obscure song, would it be any more beautiful? No, BECAUSE IT WOULD STILL BE THE SAME DAMN SONG.
Some of you stupid kids need to pull your heads out of your asses, go to college, and realize there's much more important things about a person's music other than how many people like it. Judge it based on how you feel about the song, and not how anyone else feels. Stupid pseudo-intellectuals. |

| Bird York – In the Deep Lyrics

I remember this song played through my head after I saw a murder. I was at a swimming pool, and I saw the dead body at the adjacent soccer field, surrounded by yellow police tape. I remember dragging my feet in the water and thinking of this song.
The thing that really perplexed me about that whole event, to the point where I was mad, was how even though there was a dead body out in the park, people were still "swimming" in the pool, like nothing happened. We didn't even close the pool. It just made me mad inside.
I thought I knew that no matter how bloody or violent this world was, that we would at least respect the dead, especially when they were out in plain sight under a white sheet... It's like no one cared someone just died out in the field. It really made me go through a plethora of emotions. I was confused, angered, and sad.
Once it happened, and everyone was gone, I just sat at the edge of the swimming pool and dragged my feet in the water. I felt like I was swimming in the deep... |

Creed isn't my favorite band, but they really are one of the best bands out there. They have lyrics that are emotional without being maudlin.
When Scott sings "maybe six feet aint so far down," it sounds more like he thinks he's dead. If "six feet ain't so far down," then he probably feels he's already six feet under. |

this song mainly gives the idea that the original perpretators from 1916 are using their posterity to settle ancient scores. think about it, the soldiers of the conflict in Northern Ireland are "zombies," in an abstract way, because they are living representations of their ancestors' vindictiveness.
the schizophrenia explanation also is very plausible. I saw a murder a couple of weeks ago, and in my head, they're still fighting. I keep reliving the painful memory. It makes sense. |

No one commented on this song either? I guess it's under-appreciated then. The tone of the speaker (Jason Wade, of course) sounds indifferent. It's like, he knows that "the end has only begun," and that "these times just won't change," in spite of his desire for something new, something exciting. "When the world falls apart," according to him, is when we "[make] who we are." |

I had some great memories triggered by this song. I remember I was on a looooong road trip from my home-town towards Lubbock, Tx for a swim meet. | Green Day – Minority Lyrics
| 20 years ago

This song, to me, sounded more like satire. It's like he sings about being a "minority" and how stupid the whole idea of trying to be different than everyone else. There are some people who try to identify themselves away from the rest of the crowd by wearing different clothing or wearing stupid insignias.
For example, I saw this one patch sown onto some "punk's" backpack that said "down with commercialism." The whole thing contradicted itself; when that punk bought that patch, she was conforming to commercialism.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, "punk" is no different than any other label. You're not finding yourself when you're being a punk, you're no different than any other punk, and you should stop saying we're conformists because you're conforming to a "punk society." There. I said it. |

Just cause this "book" says that James wrote these lyrics about his father's cancer, it doesn't mean that these lyrics are restricted to that one meaning. To me, this song is about assuaging the cries of your inner demons that "grip you," "stain you," and "hate you." |

I'll be honest here. I kinda like this song cause it mixes my most preferred music (rock and metal) with the life I live (in the ghetto). Also, the metallica riffs are cut and skewed, of course, but that usually describes the background music of most rap songs anyways.
If Ja Rule was going to try to rap into a full-sized metallica song, he'd ruin it. However, he's just using a limited amount of riffs from metallica to stay true to his rap genre. |

This song immediately caught my attention with its guitar intro. The emotion captured by the musical instruments as well as Brett Scallion's vocals truly depicts a period in all of our lives where we feel "low, short of stable." |
