"Jester on the sidlines in a cast" could also refer to Bob Dylan's motorcycle accident, which took him out of the music scene for a while. |

| Ben Lee – We're All In This Together Lyrics

This song is the most repetative peice of crap I have ever been forced to listen to in my life with the possible exception of something by Rhianna. I happened to have had the displeasure of working at Kohl's when this was the advertising song, and it was played litterally every twenty minutes. The end of the song is just "we're all in this together" over, and over, and over, and OVER again until your brain feels like it's going to drip out of your ears.
All you people that actually like this song are stupid. I don't know about the rest of this guy's songs, but this one is garbage. |

This is going to sound really really nerdy, but this song reminds me of Doctor Who... spacifically Doctor/Rose. And now I will hide my head in shame for the dorkiness. |

This is the song that nearly made my aunt crash her car when she heard it. One of the things that Brad Paisley has really become known for is his humor songs. "I'm Gonna Miss Her" "Celebrity" "Alcohol" and now this one. He mocks culture in a way that is so easy to relate to and damn catchy, I've been humming the chorus of this song for a few days. |

This song proves once and for all that Brad Paisley can be a perv in his songs. "Mud on the Tires" alluded to it in a much more, well, romantic way, this song is just flat out "I want to jump your bones" |

This song... oh man, this song. I can't listen to this song without remembering that it was used to tell me that I was holding out for something that would never happen, so these interpertations are kind of funny to me. |

I love how at the end he pulls it back with "i believe that lovers should be draped in flowers..."
This sounds like someone who's torn between bitterness and romantic ideals. |

| Bright Eyes – A Scale, a Mirror, and Those Indifferent Clocks Lyrics

This song seems to have many different meanings. To me it means that moment when you look at yourself and realize that everything you've done up to that point has been for nothing. "And these clocks keep unwinding" means that time keeps moving forward, weither you want it to or care about it, and you can't stop it. I think the mentions of the former lovers means regret. |

| Thursday – War All The Time Lyrics

I think there are definately Sept. 11 allusions in there.
"In the shadow of the New York skyline we grew up too fast" That sounds like what many of my friends and I feel like (i'm from Jersey, which is what "in the shadow of the New York skyline" means). We did grow up with that skyline in the background, and then to see it "fall apart" was scary and horrible. Our childhoods were cut short that day. |

This is about a troubled person who is not only a self-injurer "Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleeding", but is suicidal. It's a very straight forward song. |

| Papa Roach – Scars Lyrics

"Scars" is about a relationship gone far south, not just because the person has had their heart broken, but because the person who broke their heart had problems. "Go fix yourself" is saying that this person can't sustain a relationship because of emotional problems of some sort. "I tried to help you once against my own advice" means that this person tried so hard to help the one they loved, and now is at the point where they realize that they can't, no matter how hard they try, help someone who doesn't want help. |

| The Dresden Dolls – Bad Habit Lyrics

|
This song is so obviously about self injury that it's amazing that people find other meanings. And the person in this song doesn't see any reason to stop "It's more productive than if I were truely happy". Many self-injurers feel this way, because they think that the loss of the cutting would be a loss of a part of themselves. |

| K's Choice – Not An Addict Lyrics
|
This song cronicles the downward spiral into drugs. Starting with pot "breath it in and breath it out and pass it on" most people share joints, taking a hit and passing it. "So creative so much more" many people feel more creative when high, it's a thing.
The next part is definantly herion. "The deeper you stick it in your vein the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain" Many people use to escape the pain of living.
The last part is about coming down and realizing that you're life is down the toilet because of what you're doing. "I'm cold, alone, I'm just a person on my own" She's realized that she has nothing left, no friends or anything because of her using.
All through it she's asserting that she doesn't have a problem. And asserts that nobody who hasn't tried drugs wouldn't get it, a common thing that addicts say. |

This song is about someone resigning themselves to the fact that they're depressed. They don't understand those who are always looking for something different "Everybody's waiting for springtime". She's comfortable with herself, and fine with the way that her emotions bring her. |

| Kittie – Paperdoll Lyrics
|
I don't think this song is about rape, though that is what a lot of people I've talked to seem to think. I think this is more about a girl who allows herself to be used, repetedly by people that she has no feelings for. There are also self-injury undertones in the song as well "watch the blood run down her arms".
This is about a person who doesn't believe she's a person, as evidenced by the line "She's just a paperdoll that's all, just a paper doll." And also doesn't think that she deserves any notice, validation, or attention, the repeating of "but don't take notice" shows that.
She doesn't feel like a human being, "Now her soul is dead"
And though she doesn't believe that she deserves happiness, she still wants it "Wash away her pain". |

| Jack Off Jill – Strawberry Gashes Lyrics

I think this song is definantly about about self injury. The third person switching to the first at the end could probably be part of the disconnection from self that a lot of self injurers feel before they cut (or burn, or injury of choice), dissasociation is a well-known problem for a lot of cutters. "You're living like a disaster" sounds to me like she knows that what she's doing is wrong and that there are better ways to deal with her problems than what she's doing. "kill me faster" sounds like someone dealing with depression, something extremely common to self-injurers (not all though many people think that) |

I agree w/you Bridgetcore, Brett is a good writer, I couldn't write lyrics half as well as he does, notice how I won't diss the lyrics themselves, just the subject matter.
I'd also like to add, Brett is offically the skinniest guy I've EVER met, skinnier even than my friend Andy (if you're into the NJ hardcore scene, he's the lead singer of A Chilling Silence), and that's saying something. |

I agree with sgrclt34 and everybody else who says it's about drug use. It is fairly obvious. Also one of the lines in the lyrics is wrong it's "MAMA and daddy's got the best cocaine" not "mom and daddy" but I'm just a dork to pick on that. |

This was one of the songs by them that was featured on a Buffy episode. That's how Joss Whedon met them and later he ended up asking them to do the theme song for Angel.
I think this song is about someone who is kinda fake on the outside "Is that why you run, why you hide". I dunno, I'm probably wrong. |

I love this song, I happen to find the original verson (w/o Amy Lee) better, I think it's because it's simpler, no strings or anything. It makes the song seem more personal and beautiful. It's about longing to see someone who's far away, which I can relate to. I <3 this song so much. |

I'm sad to say I actually like this song, because of the melody, the lyrics are kinda bad, because I happen to think that cutting isn't something that should be glorified in any form, be it TV shows that feature it, or songs about it, it's just not cool. |

Heh heh, I first heard this song in the movie "Scream". I like it, but I find it kind of funny that this song is playing during a point when Billy and Sidney are kissing and the songs called "Don't Fear the Reaper"... then I actually listened to it and it's like a couple committing suicide together, which is kinda romantic in an insanely screwed up way. |
