| The Sound of Animals Fighting – The Heretic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Well, it's also very much about God and what western religions promise - that we are entities in our own right, safely circumscribed from everything else. See, the sentient mind has enormous difficulty accepting that it's part of something larger than itself i.e. the universe. That's why we put so much effort into separating ourselves from the animals - because we view them as a continuation of the environment, and we want to believe that we are more than that. We want to believe that we are souls, perfect, permanent and complete. Our obsession with beauty and symmetry is a reflection of this deeply rooted anxiety. | |

In my esteemed opinion, : P this song is about our obsession with being more than what we are manifesting itself in self-abuse. “Every attempt to achieve beauty is an attempt to give the local the attribute of the universal.” (Charles H. Fort) |

To install the notion that I divided by I Replace the occasion to speak I’m not the only lonely boy (lonely boy, lonely boy, lonely boy) To be honest, I’m not sure if this bit is about coming together or separating. Coming together: ‘Division’ is the same as saying A goes into B, so essentially what we have is one ‘I’ letting another ‘I’ into itself, or, less abstractly, one person letting another person into their life. ‘Replace the occasion to speak’ would thus refer to the comfortable silences that people sink into when they have been together for a long time, and ‘I’m not the only lonely boy,’ would simply be the speaker acknowledging that this sort of union is quite standard - it’s what everyone does. Separating: ‘Divided’ can also mean torn apart - as in ‘divided, we fall,’ so it could be about two people separating. In this case, ‘replace the occasion to speak’ would imply that they have reached a point where there is nothing left to say and all they can do is act and go their separate ways. Once again, this is commonplace. Until I decide to take my watch off I’ll still believe that we Were just a matter of time Still getting older every day Shout for shout’s sake The speaker believes that they are destined to be with subject, and the only way it could ever be otherwise is if the passing of time no longer entered into the equation. But the speaker finds that no matter how long they wait, they continue to get older without getting any closer to the subject, and all they can do is shout about it. Siren siren, don’t do this dance in my ear If I have already lost him once Do a deadly dance, all I’ve asked for is so little I've already lost him In The Odyssey, the song of the sirens is irresistible. Once a sailor is in the trance of the sirens’ song, they cannot escape and they will sail their ship toward certain destruction on the rocks. In the case of Lost Symphonies, the siren embodies the allure of the subject, and the speaker is pleading with it not to continue to seduce them since they have already endured the tragedy of losing the subject. If I decide to sever the plates below The shore would separate and find only seven placed again In one of the earlier posts someone suggested that this may be a reference to God dividing up the ocean and creating the seven seas, and I think they’re right on the money. But what sticks out for me here are the words ‘only’ and ‘again’ as they convey a sense of inevitability. I believe that the speaker is saying, in so many words, that even if they had the omnipotence of God, things would have played out in exactly the same way; their separation from the subject was inexorable. Before commemorating (this anniversary) I hope you still believe Before commemorating (this anniversary) Ten feet tall and I still have the right to say In a marriage, only one spouse has remained faithful and thus has the higher ground? Not too sure… I don’t know that this song is about any one relationship. I think it might just be about break-ups in general and how hard it can be to let go of something that has been a huge part of your life for so long. And now I’ll just wait patiently for someone to come along with a quote from a magazine interview that completely debunks everything I’ve written. : P |

| A Static Lullaby – Easier Said Than Done Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| I agree 100% with lyss 222's interpretation. | |
| Smugface – Essence Of Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Shuttle is their best song by a long shot. I would post the lyrics, but since they changed their name and ditched the old site, it's impossible to find them anywhere online... Well, to tell the truth, I haven't tried that hard... but, yeah, Shuttle... woooo | |

| Oops - I left the ('s) of the end of it's. Yeah, these guys kick ass. For more quality melodic rock, check out www.thehouseofheroes.com. They're not as good as Aphasia, but they're worth a listen. | |
| Nature Living – Far Side of the Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Anyone who knows who Nature Living are will understand why the English is a little broken. Grammatical slip-ups aside, these guys are fucking phenomenal. This is probably their most recognised song. Other standouts include As Time Goes On, The Reason For Destruction, and Over There. You can purchase the new album Something Needs To Be Said About It at www.interpunk.com. | |
| A Static Lullaby – Modern Day Fire Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Are you sure about these lyrics, dude? Anyhow, Faso Latido isn't what I was expecting for SL's sophmore effort. It's good, but it's gonna take a bit of getting used to. So far, this is my favourite track. The chorus gets stuck in your head for days on end. |

| Madison – This Time It's Mine Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Why aren't there any comments for this song? It fucking rules. | |
| A Static Lullaby – Easier Said Than Done Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Please note that this is the song as I hear it. I did not actually have a hardcopy of the lyrics. Anyway - next to Lipgloss and Letdown this is probably their best song. I was seriously disappointed that they didn't include it on Faso Latido. |

| Aphasia – We All Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"We are most mysterious creatures to kill for what we believe." This line sticks out for me. The rest of the song seems to be aimed at big business - ravenous corporations and such. But this line seems to be more about religion. After all, big businesses don't rape the earth and leave people for dead because they *believe in something* - quite the opposite. So I'm assuming that this line is a stab at religion and all the damage that it causes. If you have a different view of the song - please express. Or if you know for certain that I'm wrong - feel free to correct me. |

| Aphasia – Blue Beneath Your Skin Lyrics | 21 years ago |
