My favourite is "live through this and you won't look back" and "it's nothing but time and a face that you lose". These are both so true for relationships in the grand scheme of things. I love the sence of emotion and feeling potrayed for this song. I could listen to it 100 times in a row and still love it. |

Knife2aGunFight, I agree with you completly. I am so dissapointed in this song. Thursday is my second favourite band because thier songs are usualy so powerfull, so true, so cleverly writen and cover so many levels of emotion. This song just sucks. It's too poppy. The edge is lost. It sounds forced and uninspired, like bits of other songs strung together because it was all that came to mind. |

I don't think I've heard the other version.. I own all the bright eyes cd's..not the ep's and I donno what you're all talking about "The other version" Ok well.. I'm in love with this song. It's my favourite of "I'm Wide Awake..". It just makes me smile... I would quote cerain lines but they are all amazing. When i first heard it, I didn't like it because I normaly hate folk music. The more I lsiten to it the more I started loving it. I love how bright eyes songs can be about everything and nothing at the same time. I love how they are so simple and complex. Yes, Conor is my love. Basically, everytime I feel loss this song lifts me up, just to a happier state, a more understood state. I LOVE THIS SONG! It's my current obsession. I expect amazing things from these kids. I feel like this song was writen more so to confuse the listener then for any other reason. I feel like you're supposed to listen to it and get caut up in these fabricated stories and spend time trying to distingish if anything said was actually ever more then just a lie. Some of it might be true and it could also easily be about unsaid words. I still think that it's more then likely that the song is actually just trying to f*ck with the listener. I like it though.. This may sound idiotic, but this song changed my life. The line "i'm not the way you think I am" got me to realise I could just be myself. It made me realise that I needed to stop pretending, and stop focusing on fitting in, and start focusing on being me. The first time I heard this song was the first day of the rest of my life. It' one of the first song's Peter ever wrote, but it's still amazinv to me. About 25 months latter, this song still means the world to me. It's one of my favourite bright eyes songs too. I also love the "I know a girl who cries when she practices violin, cause each note sounds so pure it just cuts into her and then the melody comes pouring out her eyes. Now to me everything else it just sounds like a lie." part, because thats what music is to me, real, vrs. everything else i've come to know.
