This has got to be one of my favorite MxPx songs ever! The first time I heard it I almost cried. What Mike is saying here is powerful and meaningful. You can't work your way into heaven, it's only obtained by the acceptence of Jesus Christ (first three lines). We shouldn't judge people by how the look or any other irrelevant thing. We should, instead, look at the person's innternsions and motives; like Jesus. I love this song, and every thing else they've done (yes, even the newer stuff... it's not "MxPx" but it is good stuff...) |

This song, for the most part, is pretty self-explainitory. It's about how you don't have to fit into some clean, neat, proper Christian mold to actualy be a Christian. "We're the scallywags..." That whole testifies to that. It's also about how Christianity is not a religion. It is also not legalism. It's about a relationship with Jesus Christ. "It's about a friend...". So yeah, good stuff... |

According to Kandy himself, this song is about how we are to "crucify ourselves daily". Well, that was actualy my initial thought about this song and I can also see that now. But really, unless you're a fairly educated Christian and know that we are to die to ourselves every day and all this, this would sound like a call for mass suicide. Nonetheless, great song, great band... |
