| Tracy Chapman – Telling Stories Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I guess to me this song reminds me of my own life where in silence i create a fiction, a space to go where reality no longer exists. and like the last line sometimes you need that lie in order to exist. | |

I think the best part of this song is that it does mean so many things. The Piper could refer to the Pied Piper of Hammelin. The Lady Galadriel. Looking to the west could be another reference to Lord of the Rings, where the west is the place over the sea that the elves go to when their lives have ended. The May Queen could refer to the pagan goddess in summer time...the celebration of beltaine. Or it could be other things that i don't know about, and that's what makes it most fun to listen to. My dad taught a course at Notre Dame years ago about misinterpretation in pictures and songs, he used this song as one of his examples...the line "the tune will come to you at last" was once interpreted as "and the jew will bother you a lot" and that is because of the thinking at the time and such... for me this is simply a song that i grew up with, like american pie, and i couldn't give a rat's ass what anyone else thinks. |

| Green Day – Holiday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This could be completely wrong and idiodic...but perhaps the last line "this is our lives on holiday" has something to do with the fact that we have no control over our lives and while in a democracy we should have some say...those who are a part of the minority essentially are stuck on holiday...with no one really caring what they say. ....i also thought that it said "a price tag stuck on a monument" so ...yeah | |
