Haha, guys, I don't know if you read Scar Tissue or not, but Anthony says in there that sometimes he puts words into songs just to rhyme them. Not saying that's what he did here, but it definitely looks like it, haha. Okay, so there are no more "Yup, you're right, it's about his dog"'s... Bottom Line - Flea and Anthony co-wrote this song, originally for Flea's dog, Martian. During the recording, apparently, Anthony's dog, Buster, had dies as well. :( Hope this doesn't make him go back to drugs, if you read his book, you know that Buster was his biggesdt influence in getting (and staying) clean. |

| Yeah this song, as most of you said, is all about the adventures of Flea and Anthony. In his book Anthony says he actually wrote very little of the song because he was missing rehearsals and recording sessions due to his drug addiction coming back after about 4 or 5 years of being sober. So Flea came up with the intro and a lot of the rest. Great song, I love it. I agree with Sillwater, very underrated song from an underrated CD. | |

I think this song is basically the intro of the story told by the Medussa Madonna's lover on how he knew about many of the tortures men did to her. and the chorus (i guess you could call it that) "Save yourself because your dying slowly say goodnight before you ever say goodbye" he's telling the person to save yourself, and not to give up. dont die before you have a chance to survive. hence "say goodnight before you ever say goodbye". he doesnt want the person to say "goodbye" and leave forever. he wants him to get away. |

well if you look at some of the lyrics, there are parts where he's saying stuff that someone else did that would obviously not do what was intended. For instance: "Tore the buttons off your coat to keep the wind out" "And what you reiterate is meaningless to me" "Held a candle to the sun to drown the twilight" I dunno, just something I notcied. Maybe it means someone is getting abused and is basically just asking for it 'cuz he/she is doing things that dont help at all, or make things worse. |

I don't know if anybody made the connections I'm about to make but the one's I read through didn't so here I go: "Scar Tissue That I Wish You Saw" - He wished someone could have seen his "scars" to help prevent them from making the same mistake he made. "With the birds I'll share this lonely view" - I'm not sure but I thinkit means either of these two things. One, The birds flying in the sky all alone sharing the same view like he was in heaven and looking down. Two, he feels lonely and that only the birds have the same look at things on earth that he does. Soft spoken with a broken jaw Step outside but not to brawl Autumn's sweet we call it fall I'll make it to the moon if i have to crawl - It's almost like this song is telling a story and this part means someone almost finished getting over something (whether it be drugs, a loss, etc.) and he'll do whatever he has to do to help him/her make it. Scar tissue the I wish you saw Sarcastic Mister know it all close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause' With the bird I'll share - This part is like the beginning of the "story" when someone else starts making the same mistake as him and, I'll say she, she is just ignoring him telling him it's under control. I know my interperatations are ver literal but that's just what I think. That's why I'm not sure if my connections are accurate because the peppers aren't very literal. Ok, I'm not totally sure, but I think this song has the same theme as Tearjerker and some other songs on the One Hot Minute Album. I think it's about Kurt Cobain's death and how you have friends who love and care about you. Plus, this part of the song convinces me almost completely: My friends are so distressed And standing on the brink of emptiness No words I know of to express This emptiness In Anthony Kiedis' Autobiography, Scar Tissue, he says when he first got the phone call on about Kurt's death, it was as if everything was sucked out of him and the rest of the band and they didn't know what to say. That's what I think. |

| It's true, this whole album, well almost the whole album, was made in memory of Kurt Cobain. This was a disturbing album though... I'm pretty sure they said they wrote most of the songs on this album on drugs but I can't remember exactly what they said... anyhoo, yes it was made in memory of Kurt Cobain. They released this album in 1995 and I'm pretty sure Kurt died in 1994. | |
