| José González – Save Your Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
the song is about attaching yourself to someone you can no longer help - enablement, perhaps. its about how you can try to save someone all you want but sometimes you just end up losing yourself in that person's problems. "Poke the body with a stick Roll it down Ignore the moaning as it tumbles to the ground Be brave and save your day" "To cough up sympathy isn't hard but it costs" ->for some people, it isn't hard to pity someone and immerse yourself in their pain but it can end up tearing you apart -> you can't destroy yourself -> he's saying let go of that person no matter how painful it may be because they're "dead" and you're being brought down with them |

| Josh Ritter – Thin Blue Flame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song is about the hypocrisy in religion. "Heaven’s just a thin blue line If God’s up there he’s in a cold dark room The heavenly host are just the cold dark moons He bent down and made the world in seven days And ever since he’s been a’walking away" Josh seems to be questioning the dependability of believing in a God when we live in a world full of hatred and injustice. He finds that instead of relying on salvation in Heaven, he seeks solace through embracing his life on earth. amazing song. incredible album. |

| O.A.R. – I Feel Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i was driving home from the beach packed in a car with a bunch of my best friends and this song came on and all of us just got quiet and teary-eyed. we all new that no matter how much things change after high school we always have each other to come home to. | |
| Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think this song is simply about just how powerful companionship and love is. no matter what kind of falling out we have in a relationship, the moment we see that person fall apart, it is the love that we had for them that brings us back and makes us want to be there to do whatever we can. | |
| Blacktop Cadence – Sad Passing Shame Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| to me this song describes the awkwardness of the aftermath of a break-up - the period of time where you try to get over each other but every time you cross paths you seem to fall all over again. "we both know how the wheels will turn with something burning inside of us. " -> it seems as though both sides of the past relationship want to move on but they know they're still in love and realize it most when they're together. | |
| American Football – Stay Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this song is simple yet so powerful. the long instrumental prelude to the lyrics is perfect. as savemefromtears said, this song means something different to everyone. however, i feel the overall message of this song is that we all need to learn to show a little more compassion for others and stop being so concerned with our inner turmoil -"don't leave home again if empathy takes energy cause everyone feels just like you". life is "so social" and if we can't get past our own pain we'll never have any empathy for those who surround us. | |
| Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i love ben folds because he generalizes all of his songs. though Brick is about an abortion, it does not come forward in saying that, making the theme applicable to any tragedy that can tear apart a relationship. nonetheless, this song is beautiful. "Now that I have found someone I'm feeling more alone" amazing. |

| The Spill Canvas – So Much Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
If I had to choose a way to die it'd be with you In a goosebump infested embrace With my overanxious hands cupping your face simply amazing. |
|
| Penfold – Microchip Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this song perfectly captures the kind of breakup where you just wish the other person will walk away because you don't have the strength to do it yourself. "you're the only person I would ever want to break my heart." i can relate far too well |

| Penfold – Tuesday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i think this song is about some kind of intervention. as if he is trying to tell someone he really cares about to get control of their life. "Save yourself, and i'm sorry if I told you how I felt and you couldn't take it. If you change or stay the same, i'm sorry if I told you how I felt and you couldn't take it." He is saying how it tears him apart to see someone he loves so much to fall apart, but through everything he still sees the beauty in her. "But then I see her standing there and she's smiling I know that for a little while i'll be fine." penfold captures emotions that very few could ever put into worlds. simply breathtaking. |

| Knapsack – The Shape Of Fear Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i'm surprised to see only one comment. shape of fear has to be my favorite knapsack song. to me it seems like he's talking about someone who is so afraid of failing that they will do anything to stand out, and when they get found out everything falls apart. "And you take what they left Choke on their success But you're nothing anyway" |
