I think that this song is about Jason's father. Part of it seems to be that he blames himself for his father leaving; for example, when he say "but I couldn't make you see it" - he seems to think that his father left because he didn't show enough love towards him. As for a general interpretation, this is how you might feel if someone you cared about deeply left you. |

| Diana Degarmo – All I Never Wanted Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is my favourite song by Diana DeGarmo. I know that a lot of people hate her kind of music because it’s “pop”, but each to their own. Not everybody is going to like hip-hop or whatever is “cool” to like these days. I personally feel that it’s about falling in love with someone that you shouldn’t love and who you’d never expected to fall for, and then losing them. In a sense, breaking the girl who never thought she’d be broken. “It was all a dream, So it seems to me now All the falling up into the heavens Then floating down “ This verse talks about how long ago it seems to have been since the time before she fell for him (“It was all a dream/So it seems to me now”) and how she has trouble remembering what life was like before. In the beginning, when she fell for him, it wasn’t all that terrible for her - secretly, she didn’t mind having feelings for him (“Falling up into the heavens”). But then something bad happened between them regarding her feelings, and things went awry (“Then floating down”). “Was it all in my head, this premonition? When I look back its hard to tell the difference between What really happened And what I imagined” In this verse, she’s almost doubting why she fell for him, in addition to doubting that they were such great friends as she thought in the beginning (“Was it all in my head, this premonition?/When I look back it’s hard to tell the difference between/What really happened/And what I imagined”). Part of her is trying to convince herself that everything was terrible so that she can learn to hate him and move on. “But it's all over now, So it doesn’t really matter Don’t know why I feel so shattered I shoulda known better You were all I never wanted, Anyhow, yeah But I sure want you now I want you now” In the chorus, she’s trying to look at things practically (“Don’t know why I feel so shattered/I shoulda known better”) and is trying to convince herself that she doesn’t care that it’s over (“But it’s all over now/So it doesn’t really matter”). She finds herself sort of numbly accepting what has happened and that she’s lost him. He wasn’t someone she ever expected to fall for (“You were all I never wanted”: She never found herself wanting someone like him, or else he was everything she didn’t want to love), but after loving him and especially after losing him, she knows (and has probably known all along) that despite what she used to want, she misses him and wishes he was with her (“But I sure want you now/I want you now”). “Well I thought I knew I was under control You would never be The one to shake me What did I know?” This verse can relate to how she once thought that he was someone she would never fall for: “Well I thought I knew…You would never be/The one to shake me”. Perhaps her feelings started out as what she thought was a little crush, and she thought she could get past it easily, or maybe life was just as she wanted it until she started loving him: “I was under control”. She realizes that she was wrong (“What did I know?”) about being so under control and that he’s gotten to her a lot more than she ever would have expected anyone to. “Well it's strange how you feel when you're so mistaken When you knew it was wrong from the start but you couldn't let it go That's why I feel so faded I'm trying to turn the pages” This verse talks about her shock that she was wrong and that she didn’t have as much control as she thought (“Well it’s strange how you feel when you’re so mistaken”) and that all along, she knew that she couldn’t have him, but she couldn’t get over it (“When you knew it was wrong from the start, but you couldn’t let it go”). It also describes that she’s lost sense of who she is (“That’s why I feel so faded”) and that she’s struggling to move on (“I’m trying to turn the pages”). “I'm not coming around again I'm not going down again No hanging on No looking back There's nothing more to say” In this verse, she’s trying to move on from him. She’s not going to go after him (“I’m not coming around again”) and she’s not going to let herself be knocked off her feet again (“I’m not going down again”). She has to move on (“No hanging on, no looking back”), and she’s trying to come to terms with that. Maybe the two drifted from each other because she was hiding her feelings from him, or because she told him and things grew awkward between them, making them feel as though they had nothing to talk about anymore: “There’s nothing more to say”. Or, perhaps by “There’s nothing more to say”, it means that there’s no question about what she has to do and that she has to move on from it. |

| Britney Spears – E-Mail My Heart Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
All right, people, it's time to graduate from Kindergarten. I don't particularly like Britney Spears. I used to, at the beginning of her career, but after her second CD I became disappointed in her work. Whatever, worse things have happened. Unlike a lot of you, however, I have the decency to not come around and diss her. This is a sweet song. It's not amazing, but it's okay. The lyrics (and this goes for her lyrics in general) don't really have a lot of depth, but I'm sure people can relate to this song in that they've struggled to make things right again after wronging someone. You know, calling them, trying to talk to them, or, in this case, e-mailing them. This could also be related to long-distance relationships or online relationships. E-mail My Heart doesn't necessarily literally mean to e-mail your heart. Just think about it. It might do you some good to use your brain for once. If you don't like her, then don't bother commenting. Instead, comment on some music you actually do like. I'd like to know what you think you accomplish by complaining about her, I really would. |

| Toby Keith – Courtesy of the red, white, and blue (angry american) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Oh God, the USA isn't really a free country...you're all so under the thumb of the government. Nothing against the USA at all, but it's so true. Everything is so controlled. Sure you can watch TV when you want and walk on any sidewalk, but the government's always watching. Isn't that a little creepy? Sounds like a typical "oh yeah, is just too bad-ass" kind of song. Not necessarily bad, but nothing amazing. |

| Saliva – Rest In Pieces Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think this song is about someone you felt strongly about or trusted profoundly hurting you, whether it was in that they turned out to be playing you or because they broke things off. By saying "Would you find it in your heart/To make this go away/And let me rest in pieces", the singer means that he wants her to just get out of his head, stop showing up in his life, or to stop trying to play him again, and just leave him alone...leave him alone to be broken so that he can heal. Easy to relate to, and a great song. | |

| The Corrs – Goodbye Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song expresses how hard it can be to say goodbye to someone, and how everything changes, seemingly for the worse, when you're without them. This person chases you and wants you back when you try to leave them, but you're trying to show them that there is nothing left to stay for. Just a reflection on this song on a personal experience. |

| Puddle of Mudd – Blurry Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Makes me think of someone I know...when I heard it at first, I thought it was...emotional angst over someone who the singer loved and lost (in the romantic sense), but according to you people it's about someone's son, so I don't know. I guess it can be interpreted in different ways... However, the meaning I find myself sticking with is the one I found in the first place. |

| Kelly Clarkson – Miss Independent Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is not about being "un-independent". It's about breaking away from being, for a lack of better words, a rock. For a long time she lived with a guarded heart and gave nobody a chance, but then she realized that she didn't want to be that way anymore. She wanted to experience love, she wanted to be happy. You can still be independent while in love, but you have to learn to trust and rely on someone, too. It's the kind of song we should pay attention to, being that we're all about guarded hearts and dark pasts these days. | |

Hm...I guess, but I prefer to look at it as a love song, since I'm not into drugs. A lot of songs these days are about love...Love is pain. |

I think it's about a guy who has met someone amazing who, despite his flaws, and past, loves him unconditionally. She brings him out of the darkness and sticks with him through everything... Awesome song... |

The members of Lifehouse are christians, but Lifehouse is not a christian band. The songs are written so that they are open to various personal interpretations, so the songs are not solely about "finding God" and such. I don't believe in God, nor do I need a God in my life. As far as I'm concerned, and knowing what I do about religions, I'm better off. But this website isn't about religion, so I'll get on with it. I think that this song is a love song. I don't think that the God thing makes a whole lot of sense when you pick the song apart. This is my interpretation... I'm finding my way back to sanity again Though I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there Take a breath and hold on tight Spin around one more time And gracefully fall back in the arms of grace This verse is about trying to get over the person you love. “I’m finding my way back to sanity again” is about trying to get back on your feet and figure out who you are because you’re realizing that you can’t love the person. “Though I don’t really know what I’m gonna do when I get there” is expressing how far off the goal of falling out of love seems, and all of you who’ve felt this way about someone will know exactly what it’s like. It’s essentially not knowing what you’re going to do once you’re yourself. You know, it sort of poses the question of “Now what?” when you’re imagining yourself as complete again. Often when we fall in love, we put so much of ourselves into the person that we don’t know who we are without them. “Take a breath and hold on tight, spin around one more time” talk about bracing yourself (“Take a breath and hold on tight“) for a long, hard journey, and breaking your own heart for the last time (“Spin around one more time” - when we’re trying to fall out of love, we try and try to break our hearts and fall out of love, but it doesn’t work) so that you can move on. “And gracefully fall back into the arms of grace” is about falling back in love all over again, because sometimes you just can’t get away. 'Cause I am hanging on every word you say And even if you don't wanna speak tonight That's alright, alright with me 'Cause I want nothing more than to sit Outside heaven's door and listen to you breathing Is where I wanna be Where I wanna be This entire chorus is expressing love for the person this song is about. “’Cause I am hanging on every word you say” is simply stating that you don’t have to be doing anything with the person, you could just sit and talk to them or listen to them talking and you’d be happy. “And even if you don’t wanna speak tonight, that’s alright, alright with me” is about the fact that just being with the person makes you happy. Their presence makes you complete. “’Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven’s door and listen to you breathing, it’s where I wanna be” is describing the amazing connection you have with the person. You’re contented just to listen to them breathing. The heaven’s door thing means that you could just sit outside their room and listen to them. Their room is considered heaven because it’s where they are, and you consider them to be an angel. I'm looking past the shadows Of my mind into the truth and I'm trying to identify The voices in my head God, which one's you Let me feel one more time What if feels like to feel And break these calluses off me One more time “I’m looking past the shadows in my mind into the truth and I’m trying to identify the voices in my head, God, which one’s you?” is about trying to get past memories of the person that you haven’t been able to let go of so you can move on. You’re trying to figure out who you are and sort out which voice in your head is the voice that’s telling you what the right thing to do for yourself is. “God, which one’s you?” isn’t about asking God a question - the “God” part is used as an expression of desperation (an example of this is, “God! Why did this have to happen to me?!”, if you’re able to grasp the meaning). The “Which one’s you?” part is about needing the person the song is about to get over them. Sort of an “I-can’t-get-over-you-without-you” type of thing. You need them in their life, and you need their voice in your head. “Let me feel one more time what it feels like to feel, and break these calluses off of me, one more time” means that you want to be able to love them for a little while longer before you let them go (“And break these calluses off of me). Oh I don't want a thing from you Bet you're tired of me waiting for The straps to fall off of your table to the ground La da da da... ’Cause I just wanna be here now “Oh I don’t want a thing from you” means that you don’t have to have them love you and as the lyrics say, that you don’t want anything from them. “Bet you’re tired of me waiting for the scraps to fall off of your table to the ground” means basically that you think the person is tired of your almost-worship of them - you consider them an angel, which is a sort of extension of the “heaven’s door” metaphor - and that you feel that you’re just not worthy of them. “’Cause I just wanna be here now” means that you just want to be with the person. Let me know what you think. |

That depends on how you look at it, I guess, samkay87. A lot of their songs don't appear to fit one theme, but that could be because they describe a lot of the elements of something in different ways that seem unrelated. My interpretation of Dosed seems to work. O_o When my friend reccomended this song to me, he said it was a song about not letting people go, so that's always how I've looked at it. I could be wrong, but that's one of the great things about music - everybody can interpret it in their own way. The heroin thing seems a little farfetched...then again, I don't do drugs, so I wouldn't know if it was possible to "talk" to heroin. O_o |

It kind of bugs me how despite the fact that this is a interpretation site, people just say that the song rocks.=| We all know the song is good (depending on your opinion, that is), but what does it mean? Anyways… I love this song because I really connect with it. But I’ve always thought that it was about someone, not about drugs. Here are my thoughts… I got dosed by you and Closer than most to you and What am I supposed to do Take it away I never had it anyway Take it away and everything will be okay This section talks about a relationship with someone, whether it’s with a significant other or a friend. It was someone who he was “addicted” to (“I got dosed by you”); sometimes we meet people in life who we just can’t get enough of. They’re like a drug. He got close to this person (“Closer than most to you”), and is struggling in dealing with the loss of them (“What am I supposed to do”). The next two lines of this stanza sort of describe how despite the fact that he got “closer than most” to the person, there was still some sort of wall there (“Take it away I never had it anyway”) and how hard it was to be so attached to this person (“take it away and everything will be okay”). In you a star is born and You cut a perfect form and Someone forever warm This stanza is pretty straight-forward; it’s basically describing the person he lost, in my opinion. Lay on lay on lay on lay on Lay on lay on lay on lay on This part sort of illustrates that the person is dead - as in, LAY in their grave/coffin, you know. Way upon the mountain where she died All I ever wanted was your life Deep inside the canyon I can't hide All I ever wanted was your life In this verse, it’s sort of suggested that the person committed suicide (“Way up on the mountain where she died”), thought not necessarily on a mountain. It could have been at the climax of her problems; like ‘way upon the mountain of her sorrow’ or something to that effect. Also, it talks about how this person meant a lot to him (“All I ever wanted was your life”). The “canyon” symbolizes the hole in him from being without her. Deep down, he can’t ignore (“I can’t hide”) how much she meant to him. Show love with no remorse and Climb on to your seahorse and This ride is right on course This is the way I wanted it to be with you This is the way that I knew that it would be with you This stanza suggests to me that this is what he wanted to happen (“This is the way I wanted it to be with you”): For him to be able to tell her how he felt (“Show love with no remorse”) and be with her (“Climb on to your seahorse”). This was the way he felt it should be (“This ride is right on course”), and that he had strong hopes that it could be that way (“This is the way I knew that it would be with you”). It could be about drugs, I guess, if you want to look at it that way. I personally connect with my interpretation really well (aside from the fact that I’d sing it about a male, not a female, if it were me to write the song). It COULD be interpreted to mean that it was about a friend instead of someone that they loved THAT way, if you think about it. Anyways, I'll stop chewing your ear off now. |
