Jet – Look What You've Done Lyrics 20 years ago
The song does have similar chord progressions to several Beatles songs. That's one reason a lot of people love it so much, without realizing. Of course, this is an awesome Jet song. Lead singers voice compliments well. If your into guitar, definitely worth tabbing (sounds nice using open or even tabbing the piano directly).

Black Sabbath – Iron Man Lyrics 21 years ago
Does song would also be a great set-up for a new movie, even though it comes from an old one. Main hero, saves the world when young, not appreciated, dies. Comes back, wreaks havoc, people have to deal with this powerful Iron man. haha, ozzy would have to be cast as main guy.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Soul to Squeeze Lyrics 21 years ago
this song is about drugs...consider when it was written and the struggles anthony had to go throught...considering the more serious/earlier chili songs talk about the emotions they had to go through from their lives, which early on were REALLY effected by drugs.

Tupac Shakur – Changes Lyrics 21 years ago
hey musicfanatic, it is probably in rererence to Huey Newton...a member of the Black Panther Party. he was a force in this questionable group during the 1960's, and was killed at his home in 1989 I think. he represented to some, though, a person who would stop at nothing to get change to occur.

Tupac Shakur – Changes Lyrics 21 years ago
Irish has fun, trite posts which really should stop being dignified with comment. Anyway, this is a good Tupac song. Again, I reiterate Tupacs morals and values are questionable. Who is perfect though. This song seems to represent some of this mans deep feelings. Like most of his songs, it reflects on his life experiences growing up in an impoverished area and later seeing stuff in society he didn't like. It tells how he feels he was caught in a cycle before he made money from rap. Again, from a socioligical perspective this ideaology is very true. For the area Tupac grew up in, it was probably expected for black guys to get in a little trouble, to maybe sell drugs for a living, get into scuffs with cops. In these areas, it is as common as upper class kids expected to pursue higher paying careers. It's a cycle. Bottom line.

People do not like to make changes, rather opting to keep the same comfortable cycle is what is done. Why has their been no minority president...vice president...? Not because of incompetence, people don't want to change what is comfortable for their mindsets. Why do drugs, crime, cop hating...yada prevail in some areas that people label ghettos...people are in a cycle...generational occurences. When you think about life in that manner, you can understand what Tupac is trying to convey in his more tasteful, serious songs.

Even in our own lives, we are largely shaped by who and what is around us, goals that come from our background, and planning for our future. The meaning of this song is actually a good one for longer conversation...

Relient K – Marilyn Manson Ate My Girlfriend Lyrics 21 years ago
I heard this song looong ago and finally see some posts for it. First, most kids don't choose to go to Catholic school, there are these people called parents who send them there at a price. You can't force someone to like what they are taught, and some rebel. In comes Manson...No, I don't think it's fair to make him a scapegoat, but what he represents is a symbol for rebellious teens to emulate. That's what he markets, and to this day it is cheap and shameless, but earns him a buck from people like the guy who just posted. Before retorting, I realize you may see Marilyn as "soft" and may have more "out there" oh so hard bands. Just substitute their names where I mentioned Marilyn's earlier, the points still the same.

Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby Lyrics 21 years ago
Robert Van Winkle? I think that's his name, and he was at the behest of the rap scene for a while. Whoever can do that, and use the word "feasible" in his hardcore rap song has to be a smart guy. Word to the iceman.

Michael Jackson – Billie Jean Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't know what to think about Micheal Jackson, guys weird, but I did grow up with his songs. This one will be a classic 80's song. Whoever asked what kind of name Billie Jean is...you had to grow up in the 80's to understand names like Billie, Mickie, Torrie, Tiffani...the list goes on, blame it one the hippies and their fun kid names.

Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics 21 years ago
Why does Aerosmith never stop rocking? This guys are just phenomenal. Anyway, I like this song a lot, and the meaning I think, as was posted earlier, comes from the bands earlier days that were a little tougher. Anyway, I heard a version of this song that had no drums, just Tylers voice and instrumentation...does anyone know where to find it, it was great.

Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics 21 years ago
What is the only solace from the sad end of Nirvana...Dave Grohl forming the Foo Fighters. I think the song is laden with innuendo, I may be wrong. The acoustic version of it is very chill and highly recommended. Just an old fine Foo song.

Tupac Shakur – Dear Mama Lyrics 21 years ago
I hate disrespecting a page setup for discussing song meanings, but irish deftone6 brings out the best in all of us with his "fun" comments. If you are any part of fighting the war on terror Irish, thanks, because it is brave and I have a few friends fighting right now. Wish you guys the best. I do feel it is cheap, however, to use your fighting to further a nonobjective point on the site. My opinion on the song is posted a few posts prior.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – I Shot The Sheriff Lyrics 21 years ago
Don't think of Bob Marley as a pothead songpusher. Cannabis is central for Rastafarians in their beliefs, even though it is hard for us Americans to see that because our societal moral "core" is against it. Anyway, this song is about defending oneself against pirates of evil. Bob is saying blame the people in charge when you see evil in society. What good does it do to kill the underlings (deputy) when the Sherriff will just keep hiring more deputies to replace the killed ones. People in charge shape society, Marley realized this and that's why he was so politically active and tried to help shape politics. This song is a cry to challenge leaders and not go after the "deputies" in society. The weed references serve as double entendre...as sherriff brown tells his goons not only to chop down weed, but to chop down any people who oppose him. Good song by Marley, try to see the deeper meaning though.

Tupac Shakur – Dear Mama Lyrics 21 years ago
First I would like to say to irish deftone, the fact that you go to a mediocre school and carefully decide to scrutinize spelling on a website does not make you very smart.
More importantly this song is good in that it speaks truths about social conditions in impoverished areas, and also shows a person coming to grips and reflecting upon his life. Tupac, from what I know, was far from being a moral person, before and after imprisonment. From this song one can see that he realized that fact and even though he lived a questionable lifestyle, he thanked his mother for doing the best she could for him. He realized as he was older problems that plague U.S. "ghetto" areas.

There is a problem with drugs, with single mother households, poverty...the list goes on. The history of this is tied in with the newness of equal rights (officially not until 60's), the long term establishment of impoverishment in these areas being habitually passed through generations, and along with it the drugs, crimes, and attitudes that most serious rappers tell about in their lyrical flow. This song, like many other of Tupacs, elaborate on this same notion. So this song really tells of how Tupac realizes the troubles of ghetto conditions, and thanks his Mom for doing all she could while being in the midst of this saddening cycle.

blink182 really is not that talented, but yet their songs are usually fun and easy to get into. i say great marketing, nice pr work, and that contributes to what is expected from blink. fun, nonsense songs that make you laugh at easy, immature thoughts in life.

Jack Johnson – The News Lyrics 21 years ago
This is a nice, mellow Jack Johnson song. On a quick side, it is important to understand Jack has a background in film. As a result he knows a thing or two about film terms such as diagetic, which refers to the way an aspect of a film is influenced by its setting. For example, an article I read talked about how a candle light is very hard or impossible to film under. However, when we see a scene full of candles, it has a soft, candlelit appearance. This is achieved by special lights configured to mimic candlelights. This is diagetic. So hopefully that clarifies some of the song.
Mainly I think the song reflects on how oeople are very desensitized to what we see and hear occuring in the world. We are confronted with images of death everyday by seemingly blase newscasters, and it because we are so used to it and no one beside the people in a world so far away are seem effected, it's just a another story that we hear before going to bed, just like a lullaby. To me it seems Jack is saying everyone needs to consider the true devestation that is happening in the world, and be careful not to grow too jaded.
