there are a few errors in those lyrics, the main one being that they repeat four times and never actually get to the end of the song. lets try this again: you're obsessed with finding a new brain but what you need is a new body it feels your brain has lived a thousand lives before and the skin you call your home holds a heart that quits and knees that buckle in and lungs that can't breathe when they're alone and the days come to you like sailors you watch them as they drift away they meet the sunrise out at the horizon and it's neither sink nor swim at least the water's beneath your chin there's blood spilled on the floor everyone's staring at you, what for till you realize the blood is probably yours you feel you've lost something you want it back you're lying motionless on your back and your legs aren't taking any more requests those disobedient wrecks how you cared for them as they carried you from class to class and coast to coast when you owned land and when you were broke through recessions and addictions it's just your accidental death your accidental death it's just your accidental death you're the indian in the cougar's nest your fright gives way to memory having coffee with your love or the story your father told you long ago he was hunting with his own father for deer he pointed and spotted her and tripped over some roots or some dead trees the gun went off it was a mistake and my father was only eight and as he watched the dying deer he was changed cause cos he felt sorry for what he'd done and he put down his gun will you feel sorry for what you've done? will you put down your gun? it's just your accidental death your accidental death cause there's no accidental death when you're the indian in the cougar's nest |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this is just a random thought about the entire album, but doesnt it seem symbolic that most of the songs are cut so they end and then continue into the beginning of the next song? (or maybe my copy is just messed up...) | |
| Neil Young – Southern Man Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| "It's so nice to now that racism exists only below the Mason Dixon line. I'm glad the rest of the world is immune to such ignorance." thats actually not true. i am from the midwest and although we arent so open about our racism, it is in our heads, its something we ignore, which i think is almost worse. we pretend it doesnt exist rather than trying to stop it. and lets not stereotype about the south because that just starts another problem with prejudice. | |
| Neil Young – Broken Arrow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i love the drug reference in this one. second verse "his mother had told him a trip was a fall." but what does the rest of that verse mean? he saw that his brother had sworn on the wall. everyone tells me it just rhymed, but is there anything else? | |
| Neil Young – After the Gold Rush Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i love trying to find the drug references in neil young songs. ive tried to explain what i think it is in this one, but people always tell me im dumb, so if anyone else has any ideas, please say so. (its not so obvious as the burned out basement line, but i think its in that verse) | |
| Neil Young – A Man Needs A Maid Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ok, i am a HUGE neil young fan. this is one of three songs that i dont like of his. i have heard that the reason this song is not great compared to his other brilliant ones is the fact that this is the song that he is most passionate about. it is referring to how he could never keep a romantic relationship alive. this song is so personal to him that not very many other people can relate to it. | |
