| She IS a tad off key, especially when she says "You pretend you hate them first". But anyhow, I LOOOVE this song. I think it's actually about someone who acts all important when people are around but is depressed when they're alone, and finally, when people know enough about them, they leave him to fend for himself instead of giving him attention. And the "you don't want to escape" and the "you won't escape" thing is about not being able to escape the attention you want, but not wanting to escape it either because the person is greedy. A truly sad, haunting song.... | |

I like to describe the whole song....and so I shall..... "Playground school bell rings.....again." It sounds like this represents back when someone was a child, and had to see her friend get killed(school shooting?) "Rainclouds come to play......again" Rainclouds represents depression, maybe? "Has no one told you she's not breathing?" The girl might think, because the memory of her friend is so close, that her friend isn't really dead, and people are trying to tell her that she is. "Hello, I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to....Hello..... Might mean that the girl and her friend talked alot, and the memory might be her "mind". "If I smile and don't.....believe soon I know I'll wake....from this dream" Going back to the "she's not breathing" line, the girl is trying to smile and not believe what the people are trying to tell her. "Don't try to fix me I'm not broken" She believes that if she doesn't listen to the people, they'll go away and leave her with her "mind". In other words, they're trying to comfort her, but she refuses to listen because she's not "broken"(because she was left with the memory). "Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide....don't cry......" Obviously, this line represents that the girl is going to protect the memory of her friend forever, and no one's going to take it away. "Sunddenly I know I'm not sleeping Hello, I'm still here... All that's left of yesterday......" The girl finally has to accept that her friend or family member is dead, and there's nothing left but the cold memory..... |

This song is very special to me....I'm not sure why. I listen to it like everyday. I think this song is clearly about a girl's lover completly forgot about her. "Please, please forgive me. But I won't be home again" This line expresses that she ran away for good. "Maybe someday you'll have woke up, and, barely conscious, you'll say to no one: 'Isn't something missing?" This line expresses that the woman ran away long ago, and he finally realized some"thing" was missing. "You won't cry for my abscence I know, you forgot me long ago......" This is my favorite line in the song, and I think it tells that the woman was forgot by her lover a little TOO long ago. It's really sad, but beautiful. "Isn't something missing? Isn't someone missing me....?" Obviously, this line expressses that no one misses that woman, even though she's gone, and has no home. "Even though I'm the sacrifice, you won't try for me, not now. Though I'd die to know you love me, I'm all alone....." The woman has no home, she's completly lost. I still haven't figured out about the "sacrifice" thing. "And if I breathe....I'll bleed..... Knowing you don't care! And if I sleep just to dream of you.... I wake without you there!" This obviously means that the woman still adores the man, even though she'll never see him again. |

I didn't exactly get this song until I saw the video....now I can't stop listening to it OR watching the video. It's about instead of selling your soul in order to gain fame or fortune, you should be yourself. Although Amy looked really pretty in that video, she looks even more beautiful WITH black hair and weird clothes. And everyone knows that's the real Amy. Amy Lee is real, Britney Spears is a fake. P.S. I actually know some people who HATE Evanescence....LOSERRRRRRS! |
